Evelin's POV
A sharp cry of pain tore from Grey as his body hit the ground hard.
His right hand was still wrapped up in bandages, leaving him to struggle with just his left arm as he tried to push himself upright.
But Jimmy wasn't about to give him that chance. He stepped forward and drove his boot straight into Grey's ribs.
Grey went down again, harder this time.
"You said you wouldn't let Evelin off the hook?" Jimmy's voice dropped to a deadly whisper. "Perfect. I'll make sure you never get the chance."
I watched Grey's face drain of all color, cold sweat breaking out across his skin like he'd been plunged into ice water.
"Jimmy!" I rushed forward, my fingers wrapping around his tense arm. "Stop."
His head whipped toward me, eyes blazing. "Are you seriously defending this scumbag right now?"
"I'm not defending him." My voice stayed calm, steady. "I'm protecting you." Too many eyes were on us right now.
