Chapter 52 - Chapter 52

"Now that there are no interruptions." Auralith Kane said with a smile.

"Let the third phase of the entrance test, begin!" Auralith Kane said and everyone quickly sat down at their desks.

Grabbing the ore that had been placed on her desk, Princess Marina relaxed as she dissected the properties of the ore.

"A blue ore." Princess Marina thought as she glanced at a hint of blue deep within the ore.

"With ninety eight percent impurities." Princess Marina thought as she began to release her energy into the ore.

Opening the lid on her power little by little, in order to beat the time, Princess Marina concentrated till beads of sweat began to gather on her forehead.

Heading in Princess Marina's direction under the pretext of wanting to check up on her, Auralith said "It's good to know your limits." to Princess Marina in a low tone.

"And while you nurse that into your soul remember that the world doesn't revolve around you." Auralith Kane said with a slight smirk as he walked away, unaware of what he had done.

Flashback

Estania 6 years old

"My little sun." said a male voice.

"You're going to be the leader of this pack one day." the man said in a proud tone as he and Estania sat down on the grass overlooking the sunset.

"With beauty, intelligence and countenance like yours you were always born above average but remember to treat the pack as you treat yourself." The man said calmly.

"Life might get messy, life will get messy." The man said chuckling.

"But remember to step away and look at the whole picture." The man said and Estania turned her head to look at him.

"Because the world doesn't revolve around you." said a man with the same blonde hair and blue eyes as Estania.

"Don't bother her!" A woman said as she smacked the man over the head.

"She is going to be an awesome Luna and our pack will never suffer under her." Estania's mom said as both her and her husband placed each of their right hands on their little daughter's, Estania's head.

Estania 21

Puking at the sight of her soul sister, Forestina charred beyond recognition, Estania retched as tears poured from her eyes, shaking her head profusely as more tears dropped from her eyes, Estania wondered if she was having a really bad dream. Pinching her hands to wake up and eventually slapping herself to wake up, Estania realized that no matter what she did, what she was going through was very much real.

Staring into nothingness, Estania caught a glimpse of long tracks of blood on the ground and warily followed it. Scared of who she might see at the ends of those tracks, Princess Marina closed her eye to gather herself. Opening her eyes in a sad attempt to be brave, Estania saw her mom's severed head next to her severed body and her father daggered to the ground by four spears.

Flashback end

Whistling to himself happily as the time was winding down and more and more students were submitting their refined ores, Auralith Kane did not notice that the temperature of the room had gotten hotter.

Collecting an impeccable ore from Halorin, Auralith Kane was noting down Halorin's score until a child screamed in terror.

Turning to face the noise with a sharp glare, Auralith Kane paled when he realized that the things around Princess Marina were melting. Calming himself so as to not appear scared before mere prospective students, Auralith Kane called out to Princess Marina in a loud voice.

"Stop your antics now!, Princess Marina."

Seeing no movement from her, Auralith Kane thought he was being ignored once more and said the same thing louder than before but once he saw no movement again, Auralith Kane realized that Princess Marina didn't move, not because she was ignoring him but because she couldn't! Moving towards his desk in a hurry, Auralith Kane grabbed a box that could project his voice and sent an S.O.S to his colleagues on ground.

Rushing with other instructors on her heels, Zandra Aile barged into the entrance test hall to see that the heat emanating from Princess Marina's body was gradually spreading.

"What caused this?" Zandra Aile asked in panic.

"Nothing." Auralith Kane said in an attempt to protect himself.

"All I did was give her a simple ore to refine." Auralith Kane said with an awkward laugh but Falorin swiftly interrupted him.

"Instructor Auralith Kane gave Princess Marina an ore that was one step from poisonous." Falorin said quickly.

"Poisonous?" Zandra Aile asked in confusion.

"Everyone's ore had mild impurities in it but the one he gave Princess Marina was murky." said a girl with dark pink hair.

"What was the color?" said a man with white long hair and light green eyes.

"Green!" Halorin said immediately.
