The sunset cast golden light across the ground, spilling over Mei's short black hair and tinting it with a soft amber glow.
Otis asked, "What about time, then? If I asked you to be my girlfriend for life, would you agree?"
Mei let out a startled "Whoa," taking a step back. "For life is a bit… I didn't think you were capable of saying something like that."
Was he serious? Or joking?
Mei shook her head. "You're too greedy. You really want to tie down a beautiful girl like me for your whole life?"
She held up a finger. "But if it's just being your girlfriend for one day being with you the whole day that I can do, isn't that generous of me?"
Otis turned around. "I'm done dealing with you. Do you want me to carry you or not? If not, I'm leaving."
Mei nodded frantically. "I do, I do, I do! I'll do anything! Otis, carry me home!"
