Chapter 26 — Awakening Shock

Scene 1 — In the Hospital (After the Past)

A cold breeze swept through the room's window, gently moving the white curtains as sunlight spilled across the shining floor.
The camera slowly advanced between the medical monitoring devices; green and red lights blinking in a steady rhythm, thin tubes stretching out like a suspended web of life.
Kyura's body lay stretched out on the bed, wrapped in bandages from head to toe, with several small tubes connected from his lower abdomen up to his chest.
He was breathing with difficulty through an oxygen mask, his chest rising and falling slowly, as if his body were still trapped between life and unconsciousness.
Rinnyon sat on a chair beside him, worry covering her features, bandages around her head and wrist marking her injuries.
On the other side, Zokimoshi was leaning over the heart monitor, sniffing it as usual, then moving closer to the tubes and staring at them with deep confusion.
Zokimoshi, in a serious tone:
"I still don't know what these are."
Rinnyon, clearly irritated:
"Can you worry a little? Look at Kyura's condition."
Zokimoshi:
"Alright… sorry."
Then he placed a finger on his chin with strange boldness:
"What if we drop a sword from the ceiling onto Kyura? Maybe his instincts will activate and he'll wake up."
Rinnyon panicked:
"What kind of strange thinking is this?! You sound terrifying when you say that!"
But Zokimoshi completely ignored her.
Rinnyon looked around searching for him… he was gone.
She raised her head toward the ceiling and saw him fastening a sword directly above Kyura's bed.
She screamed:
"What are you doing, you lunatic?! That's dangerous! And how did you get up there—are you a spider?!"
But the scene slowly shifted to Kyura's face—his chest began rising violently, his breathing accelerated, his heartbeats racing as if they were about to explode… and in a single moment, he shot up screaming as the sword fell onto the pillow beside him.
Zokimoshi stood smiling proudly:
"I was right."
Kyura grabbed his head in pain, and Rinnyon rushed toward him, hugging him tightly as she began crying against his chest.
Kyura shouted in severe pain:
"Get away! This hurts!"
The door burst open violently, and a nurse stormed in, her anger intense enough to shake the air itself.
The nurse:
"What happened here?!"
She saw the sword embedded in the pillow, Rinnyon hugging him, and Zokimoshi on the ceiling… her expression shifted from professional to demonic rage.
She hurled the file she was holding at Zokimoshi's head, knocking him straight to the ground, then rushed toward Rinnyon, jumping and kicking her hard, sending her sliding near the window.
The nurse screamed like a raging storm:
"What are you idiots doing?! Can't you see his injuries?! And why is there a sword stuck here?! Are you trying to kill him?! In this hospital we give him rest, and you're making his condition worse!"
Rinnyon, irritated and in pain:
"But I'm injured too! Why did you do that to me?!"
The nurse:
"You received treatment three days ago and your condition improved… but he hasn't improved yet!"
Rinnyon grumbled:
"I'm a girl! Girls are supposed to get more attention!"
The nurse pressed her lips together:
"Silence, spoiled brat… yes, they do get attention, but only at certain times."
Rinnyon (thinking angrily):
(What's wrong with this nurse?)
The nurse slowly approached Kyura, leaned closer, handed him a piece of paper, and whispered:
"This is my home address… and my name as well. If you need anything, come to me."
Rinnyon raised her eyebrows with deadly coldness:
"Wait… what's going... on here?"
She grabbed the nurse's hair and pulled it, and the nurse instantly pulled back just as hard.
Rinnyon, while pulling hair:
"You pretend to be loyal to your job, but you're vile! Trying to steal my boyfriend! You'll regret this!"
The nurse:
"Obvious lie! He's not your boyfriend!"
Kyura shouted from the bed, having completely lost his patience:
"Wait! Since when am I your boyfriend?!"
The nurse, triumphantly:
"See?! He's not your boyfriend!"
Rinnyon:
"Something must have happened to his head… he lost his memory!"
The nurse:
"The tests confirm that his head wasn't injured."
Rinnyon screamed:
"The test is fake!"
… In the middle of the chaos, Zokimoshi calmly returned and pulled the sword out of the pillow.
Zokimoshi:
"I have an important question… what do boyfriend and girlfriend mean?"
Kyura looked at him in shock:
"What? You don't know?!"
Zokimoshi, coldly:
"If I knew, I wouldn't ask."
Kyura:
"A boyfriend and girlfriend… are two people who love each other. Usually male and female… but not necessarily."
Zokimoshi:
"I see… but what is male and female?"
Kyura:
"Forget your strange questions, and both of you stop it! I'm nobody's boyfriend. And as for the paper… I'll keep it, not because I'll go to her house, but… because I might need medical advice."
The nurse's eyes gleamed like gold:
(This is the first step… I'll make him fall in love with me no matter what.)
Rinnyon screamed:
"I heard that! He'll never love you!"
The nurse bent down to pick up her file, then looked at Kyura, brushed her hair behind her ear, and winked lightly at him.
Kyura lowered his head:
"Leave… please."
The nurse smiled softly:
"Alright."
She gently touched his face before leaving and closing the door.
Zokimoshi winked at Kyura:
"Why did she do that with her eye? Is that a new skill?"
Kyura sighed:
"Forget it…"
Then he looked up at the ceiling and thought deeply:
(I wish she were here now…)
