Chapter 44 - Chapter 44:

["Can't believe a girl that pretty is actually being kept. I suddenly feel nauseous!"] ["Disgusting +1."] [+2] ["Ah, I know this girl! She's Rosy. Last time Halley got heatstroke, she was the one who treated him. I used to think she was some fairy-like healer turns out this is her real face!"] ["Is studying hard and improving every day not enough? Why choose to be someone's mistress?"] ["I suspect she only got into Hathaway because her sugar daddy helped her."]

The moment this comment appeared, it shot straight to the top. The comments underneath all told Rosy to get out of Hathaway, saying a kept woman like her was an embarrassment to the school.

I was eating lunch with Hezze, completely unaware the school forum had exploded. The rumor that I was being kept had spread like wildfire and instantly reached the top of the trending list. It seemed like everyone now knew: Rosy, the freshman from Class A, was a girl being financially supported by some man, worse, a spoiled, arrogant kept woman everyone hated.

Inside the cafeteria, students recognized me immediately. They openly pointed fingers, whispering and gossiping.

"Isn't that the girl in the picture? Rosy, right? She's even prettier than in the photo!"

"Pretty doesn't matter. She's still being kept. Just a dressed-up piece of trash."

"Hathaway is full of elites. How did garbage like that show up here?"

"Obviously her sugar daddy brought her in."

Their eyes were full of hostility as they stared at me.

Hezze looked around and noticed the strange glances. "Rosy! Why do I feel like everyone's staring at us?"

"I think they are staring at us," I said quietly, sensing something was wrong.

"This feels weird…" She frowned and took out her phone. Suddenly, her eyes widened and her expression changed. Someone had tagged the entire school WeChat group, attaching a link to the school forum.

She opened it and the more she scrolled, the uglier her expression became until she slammed the phone onto the table.

"Hezze! What's wrong?" I asked as her face twisted with anger.

"I'm furious! Completely furious! Are they insane? How dare they smear you like this!"

"Smear me?" I blinked. "What do you mean smear me?"

She shoved the phone into my hands. "Look for yourself! What kind of lunatics are these?!"

I unlocked the screen, and instantly, the HD photos and vicious comments filled my vision. The picture of me stepping out of the Rolls-Royce, clear, sharp, even my tear-mole was perfectly captured. The post accused me of being kept, of being arrogant and rude.

The more I scrolled, the more horrified I felt. My face turned completely pale. Beneath the post were countless comments calling me a b*tch, even telling me to drop out.

The post had already surpassed over ten thousand views basically the whole school knew.

My fingers tightened around the phone. "Why is this happening…?"

Hathaway was known for being a private school full of wealthy families. Even if I stepped out of a Rolls-Royce, it shouldn't automatically mean I was being kept luxury cars were parked all around the school entrance every day.

Besides, no one knew about my relationship with Captian.

Yet the photos were taken from multiple angles, extremely close. That meant the person had known beforehand and waited nearby to take them.

And there was only one person who would do this.

I opened the poster's profile only to find it was a brand-new clone account. Not even daring to use the main one. Afraid of being exposed? Obviously.

My face turned white as paper.

"Rosy, you don't need to worry. I trust you completely," Hezze said, squeezing my shoulder.

Seeing her trust made guilt twist quietly in my chest. I avoided her gaze.

"Rosy, this is clearly a clone account," Hezze said. "Have you offended anyone recently?"

I shook my head. "I just came to this school. I shouldn't have offended anyone."

"Exactly! So who the hell would be so vile?"

"…I don't know," I murmured.

But deep down, I already had one name in mind.

Back in the classroom, I immediately noticed the change in everyone's eyes. Contempt. Disdain. Disgust.

"I seriously didn't expect you to be a kept woman. Thought you were some rich family's daughter."

"Can't judge a book by its cover. Now we know what she really is."

"Who do you think her sugar daddy is? Some greasy middle-aged man with a beer belly?"

"That's what all sugar daddies look like. No way it's a handsome rich guy. That doesn't exist."

Middle-aged? Beer belly?

If Captian heard them, they'd all be dead.

I stared at them coldly. Maybe staying with Captian too long had affected me, my aura had sharpened, and even a single glance from me made several students instantly shut their mouths.

Hezze had wanted to defend me at first, but my expression scared her into silence.

Her friend had suddenly turned into a mafia boss.

"Say it. Why aren't you talking anymore?" I sneered.

The icy pressure around me made them shrink back.

"Rosy! Being kept is one thing, but now you're intimidating your classmates too? How can you be so awful?" Liona shouted, pointing at my face.

"Kept?" I looked at her with a cold, razor-sharp gaze. "Why must it be 'kept'? Why not boyfriend? Husband? Or father? Why jump straight to that conclusion?"

Liona's eyes widened. "Because you are being kept! Still want to deny it?"
