Chapter 37 - Chapter 37 Smoker Arrives at Shampoodi

A battleship slowly departed from Sabaody Archipelago!

"Yo ho!"

"We're free!"

After repeatedly confirming the battleship had left, everyone in the entire Area 1-29 began to celebrate.

"That female Marine finally left!"

Even a muscular man over three meters tall knelt on the ground, shedding tears of joy; the three-meter-tall muscular tough guy was as wronged as a child.

These days were simply not a place for humans to stay; they lived cautiously, fearing that one day they would be dragged into Marineford and interrogated.

Tables were set up on the street, with bottles of wine on them.

Countless unknown dishes were laid out on the tables, and some people were holding microphones, singing loudly, releasing the suppression they had felt inside for a long time.

"Binks' Sake, to you!"

"Through the wind and rain and giant waves!"

"Under the clear sky, my favorite flag is flying!"

Arms linked over shoulders, they sang loudly, Binks' Sake.

A thin man, looking panicked, saw the celebrating crowd and shouted urgently, "Stop singing, quickly clean up, I saw another battleship coming!"

In the blink of an eye, the festive atmosphere vanished, and everyone began to busy themselves, the earlier clamor gone.

From this, one could see Esdeath's dominance over Sabaody Archipelago.

… … … … … …

Looking up at the clear sky, Esdeath believed she didn't have the wicked taste to return after leaving.

Blue sky, white clouds, and sunlight shone upon her, and a gentle sea breeze caressed her face.

"Occasionally sailing out to sea is indeed nice, but if it's long-term, I'd rather not, I can't stand it."

Esdeath shook her head and lay back down on the lounge chair, enjoying the gentle sunshine.

"Esdeath-sama, Smoker has arrived at Sabaody Archipelago." Tina walked leisurely to Esdeath's side.

She casually picked up the sunscreen from the table beside the lounge chair, rubbed it in her hands, and applied it to Esdeath's fair skin.

She even untied the bow on her back, revealing a glimpse of spring.

It was only because there wasn't a single male Marine on Esdeath's ship, but this didn't stop a group of female Marines from drooling as they watched this scene.

They wondered when such good fortune would fall upon them; Esdeath-sama's skin was simply enviable.

She never missed a training session, yet there were no traces of training damage on her body, not even calluses on her hands.

"Esdeath-sama, your skin is so good."

Tina said enviously; they trained together, yet her own skin was slightly rougher, not nearly as good as Esdeath-sama's.

"Yours isn't bad either, come here, I'll apply it for you."

She pulled Tina into her embrace, casually untied her restraints, and applied the sunscreen with her hands.

"Ah~"

"Esdeath-sama~"

… … … …

"Achoo!"

Carina, alone in her office, sneezed and said indignantly, "Hmph! They said the Navy Base couldn't do without me, but then they just left me here alone!"

Yes!

Carina was not taken on this trip; otherwise, how could she not be involved in applying sunscreen?

Although still quite young, Carina believed her development was no less than Tina's; she was that confident!

"I'm angry!"

"The person taking over my work better come quickly!"

It wasn't that Esdeath didn't want to take Carina, but the Navy Base was practically paralyzed without Carina.

Although Sabaody had been reorganized by Esdeath, the workload was still considerable, and Esdeath had no interest in this aspect.

Tina also had to train the Marines, so all the work was handed over to Carina.

It could be said that Carina held more power than Esdeath.

All work approvals had to go through Carina!

So, the Navy Base could truly function without Esdeath, but it absolutely could not without Carina; even its operation became a problem.

Knock knock knock!

"Come in!"

Carina didn't even lift her head, knowing without a doubt it was someone coming to report work.

"Hmm?"

As soon as the door opened, Carina frowned, and a strong smell of smoke wafted in.

She looked up and saw Smoker, cigar dangling from his mouth, puffing away with a lazy expression.

Smoker, likewise, was momentarily stunned to see a little girl sitting in the office and quickly extinguished his cigar.

Seeing this action, Carina nodded.

Smoker simply felt it was inappropriate to smoke in front of a little girl, fearing it might affect someone else's development.

Seeing this attire, Carina remembered that Esdeath-sama had told her before leaving that someone would come to Shambles.

This person was extremely fond of smoking cigars.

It must be the man in front of her.

"You must be Smoker, right? This is your work content. Follow me, I'll take you to your office."

She skillfully tossed Smoker a package wrapped in a paper bag, which Smoker fumbled to catch.

He was still shocked, "How is this child like a little adult?"

He took a closer look at the table, which was entirely covered with official documents; this was simply too much.

To make a child work!

"When Esdeath returns, I must talk to her about this!"

Regardless of Smoker's inner thoughts, Smoker smiled and said to Carina, "Little sister…"

Before he could finish, Carina simply walked past Smoker and said, "Follow me."

Helplessly, Smoker could only follow.

"Staff Sergeant Carina!"

"Good day, Staff Sergeant Carina!"

Two Marines they passed both saluted respectfully, and Carina merely nodded indifferently.

This left Smoker stunned; the little girl in front of him was actually a Staff Sergeant, and the Marines' respect seemed to come from the heart.

In fact, Smoker had no idea that Carina was a core figure in the Navy Base.

If mere strength could suppress everything, then the Navy could simply send anyone.

It could be said that Carina was the one who strategized all interactions with pirates, bounty hunters, and even nobles, stabilizing the situation in Shambles.

After all, ruling a place is different from sailing on the open sea.

One can do things and then simply leave, but ruling requires worrying about a lot of trivial things, and that is the key.

… … … … … …

A day passed in an instant.

"Esdeath-sama, Daughter Island has been reached!"

A female Marine ran to Esdeath and Tina's side.

"Have we arrived?"

The Calm Belt was still relatively dangerous; they arrived at Daughter Island without incident, not only due to Esdeath's extraordinary strength.

But also thanks to the Navy's new technology: Sea Stone and propulsion technology.

"Marines ahead! Stop your voyage!"
