Chapter 62 - Chapter 62 Encounter with Kuraken

"Fish-Man Island…"

Looking at the information in her hand, Esdeath raised her head and glanced at Shakky in surprise.

She hadn't expected Shakky to have prepared it for her so early; it was quite thoughtful. Since Kuma was on Fish-Man Island, he might as well sleep forever at the bottom of the sea!

"Thanks!"

Turning around, she left Shakky's Knocking Up Bar, waving her hand with her back to Shakky.

It wasn't until Esdeath left that Rayleigh appeared, looking somewhat helpless as he said to Shakky, "You've gone to a lot of trouble this time, Shakky."

"It's nothing."

Shakky tossed the cigarette butt onto the ground, unperturbed by Rayleigh's thanks. After all, this Marine seemed to have an unusual relationship with little Hancock.

She could help out. As for seeing Rayleigh, that was just a bonus.

...…

"Fish-Man Island!"

Tashigi looked at the place with longing. It was a legendary place, ten thousand meters beneath the sea!

Mermaids!

She had never seen a mermaid before.

The others reacted similarly. Mermaids were legendary, and they were actually ten thousand meters deep beneath Shambles!

"Are we really going?"

"Yes, Fish-Man Island can barely be considered half of Shambles. Since it's Shambles, it's our territory."

It wasn't just Tashigi and the others; Esdeath hadn't seen mermaids either. As for Fishmen, who cared about them? They wanted to see mermaids!

These two were completely different species!

Fishmen and mermaids were like heaven and earth.

One was as beautiful as a celestial fairy, the other… indescribable.

She had originally planned to see what mermaids looked like. It just so happened that Kuma was also on Fish-Man Island. Since it was such a coincidence, she couldn't be blamed.

Currently, Fish-Man Island should still be Whitebeard's territory. She wasn't a pirate; she had the World Government backing her. She just wondered if the Fish-Man King would know how to appreciate her.

"To Fish-Man Island we go!"

"To Fish-Man Island we go!"

The happiest one wasn't anyone else; it was little Carina, who was jumping and shouting.

Carina was only about 14 years old, even two years younger than Esdeath. Although she was mentally mature, she was still, at her core, a little girl.

How could a little girl be willing to stay obediently at the Navy Base doing work? So, the one shouting the loudest was undoubtedly Carina.

Another point was that Esdeath hadn't brought Carina with her on her last outing, which resulted in Carina being cooped up at the Navy Base for nearly a week.

"After the coating, we will head to Fish-Man Island."

As a coater, Rayleigh usually needed about three days to coat a ship, but that was when he was working alone.

If Esdeath needed a coating, there were plenty of people to help, and it could be completed in at most two days.

As for Rayleigh's statement that three days was the fastest time, Esdeath didn't refute it. The strength of one person and a group of people was different.

Perhaps Rayleigh's fastest time was indeed three days.

Specialization!

Two days passed in a flash…

A massive transparent film appeared on Esdeath's warship, completely enveloping the entire vessel, leaving no part uncovered.

"Lady Esdeath, if we descend to ten thousand meters deep, will the water pressure crush us to death?"

Tashigi looked at the film with doubt. Could this single layer of film really help them withstand the high pressure ten thousand meters underwater?

"Don't worry!"

Honestly speaking, even if the coating broke, Esdeath could use her ice powers to preserve their lives until rescue arrived.

She was that strong!

Besides, Esdeath didn't believe that a coating made by a group of people would be inferior to one made by Rayleigh alone.

Coating ships in Shambles was a livelihood, but coating wasn't Rayleigh's main livelihood. Rayleigh's main livelihood was selling himself.

Unfortunately, that no longer worked. Slaves had been cleared out of the illegal zones by Esdeath.

It wasn't out of pity; she was simply bored.

The crowd on shore watched Esdeath, who was about to depart, with great excitement. How long had it been, and she was already leaving?

As for who would stay behind to guard?

That would, of course, be the big sucker Smoker, under the guise of it being for Smoker's training.

"Lady Esdeath, we wish you a swift return!"

The people on shore, with sparkling eyes, shouted in unison towards Esdeath's warship.

"Set sail!"

Esdeath nodded and waved her hand grandly towards her subordinates.

"Yes!"

Immediately, the sails went up, and everyone watched excitedly as the ship entered the sea.

They had sailed on the sea before, but never beneath it. The navigators on board were even more excited. They had only read about the underwater world in books, and now they could finally experience it firsthand.

Splash!

The warship plunged into the sea!

Instantly, a giant bubble enveloped Esdeath's warship, isolating it from all the seawater trying to rush in.

"Wow!"

"It really works!"

Even Esdeath was amazed by this sight. The underwater scenery was something she had never seen before, neither in this life nor her previous one.

And most importantly, this world had too many strange creatures; Sea Kings were just one of them.

"Lady Esdeath, I'm a little scared!" Carina looked at Esdeath pitifully, seeking comfort, and kept burrowing into Esdeath's embrace.

"What are you afraid of?"

Patting Carina's little head, this girl was playing the 'green tea' act with her, but it was quite cute.

The sunlight slowly disappeared around the warship.

As Esdeath was admiring the surrounding scenery, she suddenly detected a massive creature's aura.

"Hmm?"

She couldn't help but frown, looking up to see a giant tentacle striking towards the warship.

"Extreme Cold Spear!"

Cold air slowly condensed into the shape of a spear in her hand, which she instantly threw towards the tentacle.

The tiny Extreme Cold Spear hit its mark, piercing through the massive tentacle, which was then pulled off course by the immense force.

"Lady Esdeath!"

Everyone finally saw that something was attacking their ship.

"Th-th-this… This is the legendary Kraken!"

"Kraken!"

A female Marine looked at the direction of the tentacle in fear. A giant octopus appeared in everyone's sight.

Its height alone easily surpassed that of Marineford's Giant Vice Admiral, hundreds of meters tall, plus dozens of hundred-meter tentacles.

The sense of deterrence immediately appeared!

The size of its yellow octopus eyes could rival that of the warship itself.

"Heh, the laborers have arrived."

Esdeath smiled. If this Kraken hadn't suddenly appeared, she would have forgotten that Sea Kings could be used to pull ships.

Using Sea Kings to pull ships was not only fast but also safe.

Roar!

A muffled roar echoed. Kraken looked at its tentacle in disbelief; an entire one was frozen solid!
