Chapter 18 - CHAPTER 17 — Sparks and Shadows

"Are you not going to say anything?" Rita asked, her tone laced with irritation and expectation.

"Woman, keep quiet while I think," McDon snapped, rubbing his temples in frustration.

Deep down, McDon knew the bitter truth; without Ben's intelligence and strategic mind, his empire would have crumbled long ago. He depended on his son's capability, though pride would never allow him to admit it. His attempts to push Ben harder, to force control, were only backfiring. Each word, each demand, was driving Ben further away, awakening a defiance McDon had never seen before.

Time was running out. Investors were growing impatient, demanding answers and proof of their investments. Tension filled the air like smoke before a storm. McDon could no longer hide behind arrogance or threats as his empire was on the verge of collapse.

Finally, he swallowed his pride. In a rare moment of vulnerability, McDon came to Ben, not as a father full of power and intimidation, but as a man defeated by the weight of his own greed.

"Ben," he said quietly, almost pleading. "I need your help. The investors want answers. The empire is falling apart. You're the only one who can fix this."

"'I know my previous approaches and'll attitude towards you can't be forgotten in a day, but there's no time to think about this" McDon added

Ben's silence was heavy, his face unreadable. For the first time, McDon's words carried sincerity, but Ben wasn't going to make it easy.

"I'll help," Ben said at last, his voice calm but firm. "But under one condition, no more illegal deals. No more dirty money. If I'm stepping in, everything runs clean."

McDon hesitated, his jaw tightening, but he knew he had no other choice. "Agreed," he muttered.

And just like that, the tides began to shift.

This time, Ella's opportunity arrived like fate aligning itself. Ben, trusting her more than anyone else, handed her control over his company operations. She had learned from him, studied his moves, absorbed every meeting and negotiation. Now, it was her time to prove herself and she did.

Though nervous at first, Ella carried herself with grace and determination. Her heart fluttered whenever Ben praised her efforts, his proud gaze lighting up something warm inside her. The more they worked together, the closer they grew stronger. Not just as business partners, but as two souls unknowingly tied by affection.

Under Ella's careful leadership, things began to improve. The company found balance again. Staff returned, new investors showed interest, and even McDon's empire began to stabilize. Ben couldn't hide his admiration for her anymore; the woman who had once entered his life under complicated circumstances had now become his greatest strength.

But not everyone shared that joy.

Rita watched from a distance, bitterness curdling in her veins. The sight of Ella succeeding and being respected, admired, and loved by the man who once belonged to her made her seethe with jealousy.

McDon, noticing Rita's obsession and how it was starting to affect his image, began to distance himself from her completely. He stopped entertaining her visits, stopped returning her calls.

That rejection broke something in Rita. Desperate and consumed by anger, she made a dark decision. If she couldn't have Ben, no one would.

And Ella? She was at the center of Rita's fury.

A dangerous plan began to form in Rita's mind, one that would change everything. She wasn't giving up anytime soon and all she wanted was to get rid of Ella, as she thinks she's the one standing in the way, and whatever she wants

" He is mine, he is mine!!!!" As Rita threw a flower vase in anger. Feeling stressed and confused by it all, Ella must leave…..
