Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 Overthinking

"There aren't many items from otherworldly dreams to begin with, and non-controlled items have very few restrictions on circulation. As long as you can get them, you can sell them here.

As for controlled items, if you find them difficult to dispose of, you can go to the Otherworldly Dream

Processing Bureau. They have a special place to handle controlled items there." Lily's explanation to Bai Mu was flawless, and she wasn't even afraid that Bai Mu would go to the Otherworldly Dream Processing Bureau to verify it.

"The Otherworldly Dream Processing Bureau… well, to be honest, I'm new to this city and don't know much about many things here." Bai Mu said, opening the package he was carrying.

Although his words seemed to be advertising himself as a freeloader, some transactions are mutually agreeable. Being taken advantage of because of a lack of information… well, he could only accept that for now

. He genuinely knew nothing about this place, and he wasn't one of those professionals who could acquire comprehensive information immediately upon arrival.

Without that ability, gaining sufficient understanding of the local area required time and experience.

He had witnessed the experiences of Matt and others and knew how rare it was for him to be able to bring things out of otherworldly dreams normally.

Given the chance, he might become the one to disrupt the trade of items from otherworldly dreams?

If he brings out enough items, he could probably crash the prices of those items, right?

For example, in one otherworldly dream, he could just haul away a truckload of cell phones.

He could try looking into the Otherworldly Dream Processing Bureau that Lily mentioned; carrying those viruses around every day isn't a good idea.

Even if he buries them somewhere, Bai Mu is worried that some lucky person might dig them up, and if he hears about a biohazard outbreak somewhere, he'll be burdened with guilt.

"That's alright. We always buy uncontrolled otherworldly dream items here, and the prices are generally better than pawnshops."

Lily didn't explicitly say how much better, but it wouldn't be by much; that's the industry's trading rule. It's stated publicly, but privately it's negotiable.

The pawnshop owner can wield a dragon-slaying sword, and the pawner can retaliate, it all depends on whether they urgently need money.

Coming to a place like this instead of a pawnshop offers more room for negotiation.

  "Controlled items..." "

For controlled items, please contact the Processing Bureau. I can provide you with the address." Lily's smile remained unchanged.

"That's not necessary. I don't have anything to send there."

Lily nodded gently, examining the items Bai Mu had brought out. The most valuable item was the watch; the rest could be categorized as miscellaneous goods. These were

things that could be made locally, their only extra value being the premium associated with their origin in another dream.

Things from another dream weren't necessarily good.

Once outside of that dream, things, unless originally special, were just ordinary items.

Even if Bai Mu brought a large amount of jewelry and gold, their value was no different from local jewelry and gold; at most, the craftsmanship would add a slight premium.

But since those items were specifically sent here, don't expect much of a premium from the craftsmanship.

"Four thousand," Lily quoted the price with her smile unchanged.

"Eight thousand," Bai Mu immediately doubled the price. He rarely haggled, but he wanted to try, right?

Lily shook her head: "This is the only price we can offer here. Cell phones are expensive because they're hard to replicate, but watches are produced in large quantities locally."

The watch Bai Mu brought was taken from the killed driver; those guys were armed, and their watches were of decent quality.

As for the cell phone, he didn't have a chance to bring it back. He'd seen so many movies and was worried about being tracked by the enemy's phone, so he just threw it away while driving.     He was even worried about the car's location tracking, but lacking the technical skills and knowing his two legs couldn't outrun four wheels, he had no choice but to use it for now. Thinking this, Bai Mu stopped haggling.

  "Then here you are."

"When you have new goods, you're welcome to come back for another transaction." Lily handed the cash to Bai Mu.

After accepting the money, Bai Mu immediately asked, "I want to know about the Otherworld Dreams."

"Huh?" Lily, with a smile, was slightly taken aback. Bai Mu's question was too direct. "Sir, Otherworld Dreams are very dangerous. If you want more information about Otherworld Dreams, you can go to the Bureau of Investigation."

  "Okay."

Bai Mu nodded and left the small room. He even thought Lily might try to stop him as he left, but she didn't reappear after he left the Otherworld Dream Experience Store.

"...Am I overthinking things?" Bai Mu realized he had been too hasty.

But he felt that if he didn't find something to do, things would only get more boring.

In a completely unfamiliar world without internet, coupled with the initial encounter with a strange dream, bringing back valuable items and making a fortune, the feeling of being well-off for a short time became even more pronounced.

As for finding the Strange Dream Handling Bureau, he'd better learn about it first.

However, the Strange Dream Handling Bureau didn't sound like a normal police station. With a police station, he could easily get information by talking to people living nearby. Could an ordinary person even contact the Strange Dream Handling Bureau?

While Bai Mu was still pondering, he heard footsteps behind him. He felt a slight surge of joy and slowed his pace.

"Mr. Bai Mu, this is for you."

Lily, who had run out, handed Bai Mu a slip of paper before returning to the shop.

The slip of paper contained the address of the Strange Dream Handling Bureau.

"..." He realized he had overthought things. He had been too hasty and abrupt in his approach.

"Then let's learn about the Strange Dream Handling Bureau first." Bai Mu followed the address on the slip of paper and, upon arriving at the location, he realized that his overthinking was indeed correct.

He had assumed the Dream Processing Bureau would be an inaccessible place, but upon seeing the scene, he found it to be just like a normal police station; the Bureau wasn't some mysterious organization.

Next to the entrance was a notice board with reporting methods and warnings, offering a reward for timely reporting of any strange dreams.

"Quite approachable," Bai Mu thought, reading the notice board before leaving. Since the Dream Processing Bureau wasn't so difficult to access, he figured he could learn about it through normal channels.

Bai Mu's first thought was of the intermediary from yesterday; people in that line of work usually had good information.

"..." Ailer watched Bai Mu's retreating figure, a thoughtful expression on his face. He didn't immediately report to Bo Lei, but instead decided to talk to Bai Mu.

Bo Lei didn't reveal the specific reason for wanting to see Bai Mu, and when asked about Bai Mu, Bo Lei didn't express any intention to recruit him.

That meant there must be another reason.

Bai Mu arrived at the real estate agency he had visited yesterday. The middle-aged agent hesitated upon seeing Bai Mu, saying, "You can't go back on your word once the agreement is signed."

The agent's strongest impression of Bai Mu yesterday was that he had given him five yuan; the reason he recognized Bai Mu today was because of Bai Mu's attitude towards the problematic property yesterday…
