Laura and Curtis drove over to Kayla's house immediately. Curtis's muscles was tight with apprehension and panic, even though he was trying so hard not to let it show.
Laura tried to calm him down. "It's fine. She will be fine. She's probably just somewhere. We'll find her," she said in a reassuring manner.
But her words did nothing to alleviate Curtis's rapidly growing stress.
Still he said nothing. Few minutes later, they parked in front of Kayla's house. The lady was already waiting outside for them, and the sheer panic on her face made Curtis heart stutter to a stop in his chest.
She ran to meet them halfway.
