Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: A New World

"Class dismissed!"

"Finally!" a student shouted, and dove straight out the window.

Dangerous? Definitely. Legal? Probably not.

But at this academy, that was just another Tuesday.

"Such a crazy class…" The young man sighed, dragging a hand through his blonde hair.

He sat in the middle row, lean but athletic, blue eyes sharp even in exhaustion.

On Earth, he might've turned heads.

But here, he was just another face, and that stung more than he liked to admit.

Because in this world, power came first, then status, and finally money.

Looks ranked somewhere around ninetieth.

The boy's shoulders fell, closing a notebook that he would never touch again.

"Of all places, why did I have to end up here? And in this body!" The boy's face turned red.

"Me, an Ex professional author who won a global competition, now trapped in my own Eroge Academy novel!"

"The same place where the protagonist, Zyra, was an old man who transmigrated into the hero's body."

"And thanks to his system, he stole girlfriends, wives, queens, and even nuns"

"And I, the author, get transmigrated into an NPC body named Val.

The same dude whose childhood friend is the first target for Zyra to corrupt."Val's jaw tightened. Standing up, he stormed out of class.

He walked heavily to the cafeteria where he spotted his childhood friend, Nara.

Growing up together in the slums, they spent every day facing bandits, slave traders, and sadistic nobles who enjoyed tormenting commoners.

Because they had each other, they could push through every day, until they both got accepted here.

She was the same girl who was gonna fall for Zyra just because his system altered her mind, making her forget Val.

Just as Val's expression darkened, hands trembling, a blue window suddenly popped up in front of his face.

Val blinked, tilting his head, and looked at the status blocking his vision.

"Finally, help!" he breathed slowly, his shoulders loosened.

"As for Zyra stealing Nara from me, I already know his tricks, and I'm not gonna let him achieve it" Val spat out each word

Clenching his fist, his eyes narrowed at Zyra who sat at a table surrounded by girls.

The only reason Zyra was able to get Nara, was because of his good marks on the field exam

This made him sit next to her in the class, giving him more space to corrupt her.

"And, obviously, I'm not gonna let that happen," Val's voice shook, death-glaring at Zyra.

The other reason Zyra was popular with girls, was because he had the hero's blood in his veins.

And that meant power, his offspring were guaranteed to be powerful enough to reach higher ranks in society.

Whenever strength, intellect,.... The hero's bloodline enhanced his children's talents.

For the same reason, many nobles wanted their daughter to be engaged to him.

Val shook his head. "Alright, let's focus on the field exam." His eyes sharpened, and he took a deep, steady breath, finishing his meal.

Once finished, standing up, he walked steadily back to his room to prepare a plan exploiting his meta knowledge and to ace the exam.

The moment he turned his back, Nara looked in his direction. "He looks troubled. Why?" she mumbled, unaware that Zyra was eyeing her lustfully.

Val reached his room, closed the door, It was well known that students weren't allowed outside after 8 p.m

He sat on his chair, the candlelight illuminating his face, and started planning.

"The field test has three parts." He said slowly, analyzing.

First: mana sensitivity, you had to tell the real mana core from the fake.

Zyra was able to pass this originally thanks to a bracelet he found in the magic tower

Second: mana application, all focused on your mana output, the more mana you channel, the higher your marks. He clearly passed this solely thanks to his hero bloodline.

Third: mana defence, the only test where Zyra failed miserably, but thanks to his high marks on the two previous tests, he got points just enough to sit next to Nara.

The only thing I can do is to prevent him from getting the bracelet by getting it before him, and for that, I should climb the tower.

It was an old tower left by an archmage after his death, thanks to a rumour circulating around the academy that the tower is inhabited by his soul, no one gets near it.

Except Zyra because he gets a quest telling him to go there, he found the bracelet.

Now, if there is no bracelet, it means no quest for Zyra, which means no power-up for him, and he fails the test!

Val shouted, his breath ragged. It was coming—the way to change his fate, to prove even the protagonist can fail.

The light flickered on Val's face, set with determination. And sharp eyes, he walked to the closet, put on his coat, and left the room.

Under the night sky, he had one and only thought, getting that bracelet before Zyra, but… would his knowledge of the game still hold true?

Or would he find something strange there?
