Chapter 1: I'm Rover?!

Septimont, Rinascita

By the cliff where Mya took her own life, Rover, along with Cartethyia and Lupa , paid their respects to the young girl who chose to sacrifice herself rather than be swayed by the Threnodian.

They stood there for a while, gazing into the distance as the sun began to set. The fiery orb was casting the last lingering rays of today upon the sea's horizon, reflecting off Mya's sword with a dazzling brilliance

Seeing that it was getting late, the three, after giving their respects, took a Wingray back to the city. By the time they returned, night had quietly fallen.

After enduring several battles with the Fractsidus and the Threnodian's remnants, all three were clearly exhausted and planned to head straight to the Leonidas Hotel, where they were staying, to rest.

There, in addition to the long-term luxury suite already reserved for Rover, Lupa had also prepared a room for Cartethyia. As a star gladiator of Septimont, such a small matter was clearly nothing to her.

On the way back to the hotel, Abby jumped out of Rover's Tacet Mark, its stomach rumbling as it clamored for a late-night snack.

Rover had no choice but to temporarily bid farewell to the two women, letting them return to the hotel first, while he took Abby to the Solis Tavern for a meal.

In the restaurant, Abby heartily devoured various delicacies. Rover, however, had no appetite. He simply ordered a cocktail and drank alone.

"Ro-Rover, why aren't you... eating..." Abby, enjoying its meal at the table, looked up and noticed Rover silently drinking.

Rover merely shook his head gently as a slight smile formed on his lips. "I'm not hungry tonight. You go ahead and eat, Abby."

Saying this, Rover raised his glass, his golden eyes staring at the rippling surface of his drink as he slowly took a sip, savoring the drink, seemingly lost in thought.

Recalling the time since arriving in Septimont, he had experienced a series of troublesome events and countless battles in just a few short days. Although he never showed fatigue in front of others, and even if his body, which had endured for ten thousand years without wear, could persist, his heart, however, was extremely tired.

"If one day... you no longer want to save the world, I'll steal you away and then quietly slip off!"

For some reason, Camellya's face suddenly popped into Rover's head, and he recalled the playful yet earnest words she said to him under the starry night sky that fateful day.

'Perhaps, sometimes, I could consider Camellya's suggestion?'

The thought flashed through his mind for a moment, but he firmly shook his head, casting the thought aside just as quickly as it had come. Although he had given up his past memories, he had been searching for clues left behind by his past self, always pushing forward.

One thing was certain: his past self would absolutely not want his current self to give up so easily.

Jinhsi, Changli, Shorekeeper, Camellya, Carlotta, Cantarella, Cartethyia... In just one short year since he had awakened, he had met so many amazing people, experienced ups and downs, made beautiful memories, and resolved crisis after crisis.

Although defeating the Lament was still a long way off, Rover vaguely felt that this time, he seemed to be on the right path. So, at least for now, he could let himself relax for a bit.

Thinking this, Rover nodded slightly, closed his eyes, raised his glass, and drained it in one gulp.

But the next moment, Rover felt as if the world was spinning, his eyelids heavy, and he couldn't help but slump onto the dining table.

"Rover? Rover! What's wrong, what's wrong!"

In the last moments before losing consciousness, he saw Abby anxiously drop the chicken leg it was gnawing on and pounce in front of him with a worried expression. Darkness enveloped him as the urgent shouts from his companion began to fade into complete silence.

Rover's consciousness was gradually returning to him, an unprecedented clarity replacing the chaos he had just experienced.

"What... just happened to me?"

The next moment, countless fragments of memories chaotically flooded into his head. Fighting alongside Jinhsi, the unspoken understanding with Changli on Mt. Firmament, Shorekeeper 's gentleness, Camellya's teasing, Carlotta's heartfelt confessions, Cartethyia's rebirth, and Lupa 's trusting gaze towards him during battle, they all surged into his mind like a tide, before finally settling and merging into one.

The intense dizziness receded, and a strange enlightenment arose in his heart. He was still Rover, but now the memories of being a "player" had also become a part of his soul, giving him complete knowledge of everything.

He suddenly lifted his throbbing and still dizzy head. Squeezing his temples with one hand, he managed to sit upright. But before he could observe his surroundings more, a white creature with rabbit-like ears burrowed into his embrace.

"Rover, you're awake! You really scared me just now!"

The white creature's voice carried deep concern, "You just passed out like that, I thought there was something wrong with your drink!"

"A-Abby?"

He subconsciously called out the name of the Echo in front of him, his voice hoarse from just regaining consciousness, and also carrying an unbelievable surprise stemming from "those memories."

He blinked his characteristic golden eyes, his vision fully restored. He lowered his head, looking at his hands clad in black gloves, then touched his body.

All his memories had merged completely. He now fully understood everything. If this sudden "player" memory was correct, he was just pulling on the newest banner a moment ago.

That golden light carried the hopes and dreams of the player with the absolute worst luck, the one who had lost every single 50/50. That golden light flashed by, only to reveal that familiar "comrade" from the server's launch.

A white-haired figure with a great sword on his back, facing away from the screen, appeared before him.

"Goddamnit F*cking Calcharo! I hate you!"

"Maaaan, why is it Solaris' strongest Resonator again!"

"Damn it!"

Under the player's totally justified outburst, he seemed to have tripped over the power cord. Then, suddenly, a complete blackout, along with a tingling and numbing, yet strangely satisfying sensation that spread throughout his body.

"Soooo, I played the game so hard I got injured and somehow directly pulled myself into the game?!"

Everything about Earth quickly became blurred, like old, faded photographs. He couldn't even remember his own name; only his game knowledge of the future plot remained clear.

The torrents of the two souls, however, fiercely collided, finally merging completely, becoming indistinguishable.

At this moment, he was Rover, and Rover was him.

"Rover? What's wrong with you? Are you still feeling unwell anywhere?"

Abby watched his face go through a series of changing expressions before finally settling into a look of determination, as it anxiously pawed at his arm.

Pulled back to reality from the intense internal storm, by Abby's relentless pawing, an even important thought suddenly hit him.

"Wait! At this point in time... Septimont... paying respects to Mya, I just returned from the cliff with Lupa and Cartethyia! According to the original plot, isn't the next part that was deliberately left-blank in the Companionship side quest at the hotel?!"

A storyline he had once imagined about endlessly through a screen was now within reach, laid out before him!

He took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing his tumultuous emotions to calm, but his golden eyes were now burning with a light completely different from the fatigue of moments ago.

He looked up at Abby, who still had concern in its eyes, and reached out to ruffle the little guy's head. His tone returned to being calm, yet carried an undeniable urgency.

"I'm fine, Abby, I just suddenly understood something very important."

Rover stood up, his movements swaying slightly due to the discomfort after the memory fusion, but he quickly stabilized himself.

"We need to go back immediately."

"Go? Go where?" Abby was startled by the urgency in his tone.

"The hotel!"

Rover's gaze instantly locked onto the direction of the Leonidas Hotel, his tone resolute.

"Right now!"
