Chapter 103 - Need

🔹️THRONE 

I let my guard down for too long, realizing it just as the pillow made impact. But as she flew off the bed, I understood the pillow had been a mere distraction.

​Before I could react, she flung herself against me with enough force to break my balance. I went down with her still on me. We crashed to the floor, my bones rattling as she straddled my hips.

​I gathered my senses to find her glaring down at me. She didn't say a word, our eyes locked in yet another battle.

​Her lips twitched into a sneer. "You want to trespass the High Alpha's domain, yet you don't see a pillow coming your way."

​I blinked up at her, the point sinking in. I replayed it in my mind: the darkness of the room, her feigned slumber, the grip on the pillow, and her counting my footsteps as I approached before she nearly took my head off.

​My mouth opened, but no words escaped—only a sharp, barking laugh.
