Chapter 121 - Choose Her

​I watched his skin ripple again, something shifting beneath the surface, and this time I couldn't hide my reaction. My fingers trembled against his.

​"The next thing I knew, I was standing over the High Alpha," he said, his voice dropping to something almost hollow. "I don't remember breaking free from the restraints. Don't remember the guards I must have killed to get to him. But I remember his face when I found him. I remember seeing true fear in those pale eyes for the first time."

​"You attacked him," I whispered.

​"I ripped into him," Thorne corrected, and there was no pride in his voice, only a grim acceptance. "Umbra and I had never been so swift, so in control. We were shadow—no one could touch us, not even the High Alpha himself. My claws tore through his robes, through his flesh, and I tasted his blood on my tongue."

​He looked down at his hands, flexing his fingers like he could still see the High Alpha's blood on them.
