Chapter 2 - Chapter One: Visiting a Long-Lost Brother

Prince Vegeta is just as insufferable as he's always been — arrogant, cold, and obsessed with his so-called royal pride.

To think that the mighty Saiyan race — proud warriors of Planet Vegeta — was wiped out by nothing more than an asteroid. At least, that's the story Lord Frieza wants everyone to believe.

And who would dare question him?

If Frieza declared that a single fart destroyed our planet, everyone would nod and pretend it made sense. That's the kind of power he holds — the kind that makes truth irrelevant.

As far as I know, only five Saiyans are still alive: Prince Vegeta, his bald-headed lapdog Nappa, Vegeta's younger brother Tarble, my little brother Kakarot, and me — Raditz.

If Planet Vegeta still existed, I'd probably be searching for a strong male to bear my children, as tradition demanded. But with only an egotistical prince and his sycophant left as candidates?

I'd rather die than bear a child for either of them. Not now. Not in a million years.

So I made a plan.

It's risky — dangerous, even — but it's my only chance. I've faked my death, staged a crash, and erased my trace from the Empire's records. Vegeta and Nappa think I'm dead, and that's how it needs to stay.

Freedom requires deception.

If I calculated correctly, my brother Kakarot should be around twelve years old now. I remember when they sent him away — a low-class infant with a power level barely in the double digits.

But if he's anything like Father… if even a fraction of that potential lies within him, then maybe, just maybe, I can use it.

I paid a small fortune in galactic credits to a crew of smugglers — the kind who don't ask questions. My ship drifts quietly through the darkness, heading for the backwater world my brother was sent to.

The first thing I did was destroy my scouter. Keeping it would have been suicide — Frieza's minions could trace the signal in an instant. As far as anyone knows, Raditz died when her ship collided with a meteor.

Let them believe it.

Kakarot's destination was some forgotten planet on the edge of nowhere — just like Tarble's. I don't even know if life still exists there. For all I know, my brother might already be dead, killed by some primitive creature.

But I'll find out soon enough.

He's my brother. And as his sister, it's his duty — at least in part — to protect me. Not that I'm expecting much; after all, he was born weak, and weakness in Saiyan blood is usually a death sentence.

Still… I can't help but hope.

As I gaze out the viewport, the stars streak past like silver lines in the darkness. My hands tremble slightly — from fear, or maybe excitement.

For the first time in my life, I'm not following orders. I'm not serving Frieza. I'm not kneeling to Vegeta's pride.

For the first time, I'm free.

And somewhere out there, a little brother I've never met is waiting — the only family I have left.

Whatever comes next, I can only hope it's better than the life I've left behind.
