Chapter 1 - Prologue 1/2 The Glowing Lady

"Are you serious?"

"What? That's who I want to be."

The Lady, a glowing figure with her hair like resplendent gold, massaged her temples.

They were in a vast black emptiness, the floor somehow exists in this space as the only light source came from her. She claimed to be an old lady who likes helping others reincarnate.

She was a pure glowing humanoid, her eyes white and seemed to spiral like a galaxy.

"Are you sure of this?" She said, her voice sounding frustrated.

"A hundred-percent, and I will be a good god."

She raised an eyebrow at that.

"Okay, maybe not that good. But I'll definitely do what your definition of good is."

She hummed to herself, then extended her hand to the side. Grabbing a transparent line of infinite energy as he reached and molded something in her palm. She pulled it out, a white orb hovered as she extended it to him.

"Here," she said, "you will do my will, my bidding, and if I don't like what you're doing. I will personally send your soul to oblivion."

The boy reached out, but the Deity pulled back and gave him a pointed look.

"I'm serious." She said sternly.

The boy only shrugged and smiled, as if to convince her he would follow her. Which she wasn't at all.

"Swear it. With an Oath." She said.

The boy half-hearted salute, "I swear, to follow your will and bidding no matter what."

The Lady only smiled then extended the ball of glowing light words him. He looked at it greedily.

"If you break the Oath, you're under my mercy and you will die."

His fingers were inches from touching the orb, but he stopped and looked at her. She was smiling wickedly, as if this thing would seal something incredibly suspicious.

He swallowed the lump in his throat.

"Can I still pull back?" He asked, his fingers retracting from the orb.

"Nope, you already decided it." She said, "so make the choice, take it." She urged.

The boy hesitated, looking at the orb that was glowing peacefully as he could feel a certain pull into it. A soft whisper that floated to his ears, sweet and tempting.

'Take me. We're perfect.'

With one glance towards the Lady, she nodded. Then, he took the ball.

His mind became vast, his body bursting alight in white as his essence expanded. He could feel it, see them, everything. He laughed a villainous laugh in the dark space as he grew in a terrible size.

He saw the universes, multiverses, negative and positive. He saw the center of all life, the very depths of reality where souls were punished for evil. The core of all morality, and then he saw two white dots like eyes peering at him from behind the tree where life was the center.

"Goodluck, and have fun." She said, smiling up at him.

His vision instantly degraded, the feeling of knowing and seeing everything came like a sudden crash of a wave as those privileges were robed from him. His entire being was being sucked into a black hole, he panicked. He tried to reach out into the infinity, to whatever he could grab hold.

But it was futile, they slipped like sand from his fingers as he screamed, his body being pulled like spaghetti.

"H-help!" He begged from the glowing Lady.

"You said you wanted to be the One Punch Man god." She said a matter so factly, "you live as him, you will suffer his prison. That's why I told you if you were serious."

She was saying more, but he was instantly pulled towards the black hole without warning. His mind returned... Limited. Not the same mortal one, but limited. The space around him was, suffocating, yet stars hung in the walls. These were artificial. But we're still proof he was trapped.

He looked at his hands, they looked like they were rotting. His skin, melting, making a gruesome look that was about to die. He could feel his nose, eyes, and hair slipping and falling. Disappearing like dust into the floor.

He could not feel pain, he could allow it. But no.

Not again.

He never felt so free in that moment of ascension, so... Capable of everything. He saw the lives of humans, non-humans, and every other universes and alternate outcomes. Yet, he couldn't do that anymore, only a very insignificant fraction of that privilege.

So, with anger. He banged on the very walls of his prison, his punishment. His arrogance.

He did this for ten centuries, summoning his powers, using them to a careless attitude as if none would punish him. He was able to create explosions, re-create the Big Bang, yet no life formed. Only turning to dust afterwards.

He slammed his fist into the Galaxy like wall, rippling under his impact but otherwise remained untouched.

And when thousands of years have passed, he realized he was hopeless. He created his own prison, he couldn't create life in here. Only destruction. Yet they could do nothing.
