Chapter 21 - Selene

Night had fallen with a suffocating weight, and my mood was no better. My arrival at the fortress was marked by a tense silence; the guards at the entrance didn't even dare to make eye contact with me. They knew my mood was like a storm about to break loose, and no one wanted to be the unfortunate soul caught in its path.

But, despite my fury, there was something else consuming me. Something darker, more primitive. My body was rigid, my need growing like an uncontrollable fire within me. Eliza. Her name was a constant echo in my mind, as if the Moon Goddess was only mocking me.

"And how much longer are you going to continue this charade, Lucian?" Luca's mocking voice echoed in my head. His sarcastic tone drove me crazy. "Are you going to keep running from your mate while settling for leftovers? Selene is nothing but cheap consolation, and you know it."

"Shut up," I growled under my breath, clenching my fists as I crossed the hallway toward the private chambers.
