The murmur of the night gradually faded in the castle, and the soft laughter from the main hall mingled with the distant sound of glasses clinking and the echo of the last footsteps on marble.
The girls were still gathered in the hall, where candles had begun to slowly burn down.
"I think it's time we go get some rest," Madison said, with a tired but sincere smile.
"Yes, tomorrow will be a long day," Ashley replied, touching her arm affectionately.
Luna nodded, with that serene bearing that made her seem born to wear a crown. Ashley, however, didn't move from her side.
"May I stay a little longer?" she asked, her eyes bright with curiosity. "I just... wanted to ask you something."
Luna arched an eyebrow, amused.
"Of course."
Madison bid them both farewell with a gesture.
"Don't stay up too long, Ash, it'll be very difficult for you to wake up in the morning, darling."
Ashley let out a little laugh.
"I know. I promise not to talk too much."
