After Madison's departure, Ashley also stood up, gently smoothing out the invisible wrinkles in her dress.
"I promised to help Luna," she said with a small apologetic smile. "She's trying to knit some booties for the baby and... let's just say yarn and she don't get along too well yet."
Eliza let out a soft, low laugh.
Ashley wanted to learn. Everything. Every little detail of what it meant to be the Luna of a pack. Not just the elegant title that accompanied the Alpha, but the silent responsibility behind it: to support, to listen, to guide. "I want to support him," Ashley explained with a shrug. "Not be something he has to protect all the time."
