Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

The two parties were willing, cooperative, and an agreement was quickly reached.

Lin Chen and Lin the Big Cannon packed their bags that night and rushed to Liverpool.

When they arrived at the club the next day, besides the waiting sporting director, there was no one else.

It was understandable; Lin Chen knew he was an unknown figure at the moment, and perhaps some Fans in China would know him.

But in Europe, the only Fans who had heard his name were probably because of the flying kick incident two days prior.

Liverpool sent a special car to pick them up, driving directly from the airport to Anfield.

Upon arriving at headquarters, sporting director Mike quickly took two steps forward and opened the car door.

"Lin!"

"Finally, we meet!"

Lin the Big Cannon got out of the car right after, and the group chatted as they walked.

Liverpool still offered Lin Chen a youth training contract, as he was only 17 and had just joined the Liverpool Youth Academy.

Lin Chen didn't mind; he was confident he could quickly earn his first professional contract based on his own strength.

With his current attributes, joining the Liverpool Youth Academy and playing in the youth League would be a complete dimension reduction attack.

Klopp was eagerly looking for a young Midfielder, especially with Liverpool deep in an injury crisis.

Even sporting director Mike couldn't help but remind Lin Chen.

"The First Team currently has four injured Midfielders, including Lucas in the Midfield, and many key players are injured."

"Do you know what this means?"

Mike patted Lin Chen's shoulder.

"Klopp is so anxious he can't sleep at night."

"As long as you can completely impress him in the very first youth training League match, I guarantee Klopp will immediately call you up to the First Team."

"Even if you can't start immediately, sitting on the bench will still benefit you."

After settling Lin Chen's accommodation, Lin the Big Cannon was about to return to Spain.

He had wanted to stay a few more days, but Alice kept calling him again and again.

Alice, Lin Chen's mother, was a classic Spanish beauty.

Lin the Big Cannon had put in a lot of effort to win her over back then.

It was precisely because of their good genetic foundation that they produced such a handsome son as Lin Chen.

"A-Chen."

Although she was Spanish, under Lin the Big Cannon's long-term influence and encouragement, Alice had mastered quite a bit of basic Chinese.

"When you're over there alone, you must take good care of yourself."

Just saying these few sentences made Alice's eyes well up.

As the lobby manager of a top ham shop in Spain, Alice was usually very busy with work and didn't have time to send Lin Chen back to England for youth training.

"If anyone bullies you over there, listen to Mom, we'll just go back to Spain."

"It's no big deal if you don't play football; with Mom around, I'll guarantee you'll have a lifetime of food and drink without worry."

"You can go wherever you want to play, live whatever life you want, and have whatever hobbies you desire; it's all up to you."

From childhood, Alice and Lin the Big Cannon treated Lin Chen in two extreme ways.

Lin the Big Cannon, as a father, was strict with Lin Chen.

Although he rarely made demands about his grades, he had very high expectations for his character and conduct.

A phrase he often said was: "Young people, you must go far away when you're young, rely on yourselves to fight, rely on yourselves to work!"

"To break out and be able to return home, that's the tough way to live!"

Alice, on the other hand, was completely unconcerned, and her most frequent saying was:

"Lin the Big Cannon, if you dare to hit my son again, this old lady will whip you to death!"

"Son, don't mind your dad."

"Fire cannons when you should, catch chickens when you should, beat dogs when you should, play whatever you want to play!"

It was precisely this parenting style from both of them that allowed Lin Chen to develop his current lively yet steady, cheerful yet proper personality.

Seeing Alice start to tear up again, Lin Chen couldn't stand it.

"Mom~"

"My dear Mom~"

"Don't worry, no one can bully your son."

"I promise," Lin Chen said, patting his chest and raising his head.

"I will definitely make a name for myself at Liverpool!"

Alice nodded while crying, then spoke to Lin the Big Cannon, whose head was only partially visible in the video.

Her voice, no longer gentle, was sharp and penetrating.

"As for you, get back here right now!"

"Don't even think about spending the night in England!"

Lin the Big Cannon's hanging heart finally died.

He had originally wanted to enjoy himself in England.

During his Derby County days, he had enjoyed top-tier essential oil massages no less than ten times, but Alice instantly saw through his little scheme.

After seeing off Lin the Big Cannon, Lin Chen returned to the youth training dormitory.

Lin Chen had lived alone during his Everton days, so Lin the Big Cannon was very relieved; he knew his son was highly independent.

It was a four-person dormitory.

The three teammates in the room were all black, the standard 'black and tough' type.

Liverpool Youth Academy was always good at cultivating such players.

The three looked at Lin Chen as if he were some rare sight.

The black kid on bed number four spoke, with a number six jersey hanging by his bed.

He seemed to be a Defensive Midfielder.

"My name is Ojo."

Ojo stood up and began to introduce himself.

"This is Dean, our goalkeeper."

Dean nodded to Nickname, who returned a smile.

"And finally, this is Guéhi, the left-back."

All three were very friendly.

As they chatted, Ojo decided to ask the question he had been holding back for a long time.

"How did you have the guts to kick a fan?"

The other two nodded frequently, also very curious.

"And, you actually dared to slap Özil? He's a key figure at Real Madrid!"

Lin Chen smiled.

"Why?"

"Because I'm not afraid."

"For these scoundrels, a flying kick is light; don't let me see him on the street, I'll beat him every time I see him!"

The three immediately cast admiring glances.

Ojo was 17, and the other two were 16.

All three attended local Liverpool high schools, studying while participating in youth training.

Ojo was in his senior year and had fairly good grades, with a good chance of graduating smoothly.

"It seems your student status has also been transferred here; for your last year of senior high, you should be in my class."

Ojo chattered on, starting to look for books, seemingly wanting to help Lin Chen get familiar with things in advance.

Little did he know, Lin Chen was already pinching his philtrum vigorously.

"Damn it! I thought I wouldn't have to go to school for the last year after transferring to England."

"What a sin!!!"

Youth training director Randall quickly delivered Lin Chen's high school uniform and books; there was still over a month until the new semester began.

Fortunately, Lin Chen had a good foundation in English, thanks to his experience at the Everton Youth Academy.

As they chatted, Lin Chen discovered that Ojo had also attended Everton Primary School.

The two had been separated by only a wall at the time.

Because of this inexplicable bond, Ojo and Lin Chen chatted more and more enthusiastically, feeling more and more comfortable, and quickly became friends.

Ojo also began to introduce Lin Chen to the upcoming youth League.

"They all say Klopp specifically requested you."

"I have a feeling you'll be promoted to the First Team very soon."

Ojo paused.

"However, even if you get promoted to the First Team, you'll still have to go to school."

Hearing this, Lin Chen's hanging heart finally died.

However, Lin Chen thought about it again and found it acceptable.

If he were promoted to the First Team and shone brightly, then returned to school the next day, both the principal and teachers would have to respectfully welcome him back to class.

And wouldn't the beautiful girls in his class all actively throw themselves into his arms?

Thinking of this, Lin Chen smiled.

Ojo was puzzled.

"What are you laughing at?"

Lin Chen said nothing, just smiled, and after a moment, spoke.

"By the way, are there any beautiful girls in our class?"

Ojo nodded.

"Don't you know? Our class is known as the 'Class of Campus Belles'!"

"Out of 25 students, 19 are girls."

"The top three campus beauties in the public vote are all in our class!"

Hearing this, Lin Chen's smile became even more uninhibited.

"This isn't a school, this is heaven!"

"School!"

"I want to go to school!"
