Chapter 51 - Chapter 51: 2004: Time Flies

And so, all Servants except for Berserker left.

Emilia von Einzbern underwent a procedure by Medea, and it's said her lifespan increased dramatically.

There were no side effects thanks to Avalon, but the problem was that Emilia developed trauma regarding Medea during the process.

Afterwards, as Emilia's relationship with Miyu and Illyasviel deepened, they didn't go down a yuri route, but reportedly became close.

Rumors of a love quadrilateral spread, leaving Shirou to bear the brunt of the mental anguish.

The Round Table group sparred without using Noble Phantasms while chatting, and the Red Archer temporarily took on cooking duties, making snacks for Artoria.

Bazett and Cú Chulainn left this place for a while, and later, when they met Caren, they had to taste the robbery of a 90% commission fee; Bazett reportedly wept.

If Kirei had seen it, he probably would have felt ecstasy without covering his mouth.

Kama quietly spent time walking, and Tamamo, in her fox form, received pats from me and affection as a pet. Around the time Irisviel and Maiya returned, I heard news of a party at the Emiya residence where the family got along well, but they left again for a new journey.

It seems Maiya took over what Kiritsugu had been doing.

Irisviel also seems to be assisting Maiya from behind to see what Kiritsugu had been observing during his travels.

Since the two carried guns daily, I could only make that assumption, but anyway, I had to fill the Holy Grail with mana in preparation for the next French Holy Grail War.

That process needed to be solved by Tiamat, and Tiamat, as if respecting me, filled the Grail with mana.

And so, Tiamat fell into a deep sleep. Perhaps because it's the modern era, it seems I placed too much burden on Tiamat.

The Servants' incarnation used Tiamat's mana, and filling the Grail also used Tiamat's mana.

The entire process placed a burden on Tiamat, resulting in her becoming like a dragon in deep slumber.

According to Medea, she said Tiamat would sleep for several months. In the end, I could only leave her be and started learning close-combat weapons in preparation for the next Grail War.

Artoria, Gawain, and Lancelot became my practice partners, and I fought using projection magecraft, broadening my skill with various weapon techniques.

Facing Kotomine Shirou was also important, but I didn't want to just stay still like this, so I had no choice but to train.

At first, I relied on Tiamat, and summoned Servants to rely on Medea.

Afterwards, I relied on my faction, and in the end, I relied on all the Servants.

I wished I didn't have to step forward directly, but now that wasn't the case.

A time was approaching when I would easily attract the vigilance of the Mage's Association and the Church.

Bazett's report probably informed them about us, but judging by the fact no immediate response came, they seemed to have decided to watch and wait for now.

I am a person of unknown purpose but with the ability to precisely determine the Grail's location. Was that clairvoyance? The judgment was ambiguous. In the process, several magi tried to invade, but they turned to dust in less than seconds due to Medea's bounded field.

Or it seems they were handled by Dragon Tooth Warriors.

Afterwards, no more were dispatched.

Who would be crazy enough to invade a place with perfect defensive facilities?

Even if breached, I'm not worried because the other incarnated heroic spirits can handle the invading enemies.

However, the Church sent no dispatches at all.

They seem to be just watching, maintaining neutrality.

Or perhaps, having heard about the upcoming French Holy Grail War, they are watching in anticipation of Jeanne d'Arc's revival.

Well, even if there are various reasons, it's better if nothing happens, but the world isn't composed of groups that would let things slide so easily.

I needed to be vigilant and careful, so I simply trained myself.

Considering that Shirou, Rin, and Ruby need to live their school lives next, it's quite problematic, but anyway, Maiya took care of all the Servants' identification documents.

Well, since Kiritsugu wasn't here, Maiya had to handle it, and all incarnated Servants now possess passports and IDs.

Jeanne d'Arc will be in the French Holy Grail War, but she falls into an ambiguous category for forcing incarnation.

To be precise, it's possession, but from what I remember of the final story, she's just an ordinary person who loses her memory.

For the seven heroic spirits, the criteria are: Gawain (guard/combat), Artoria (guard/combat), Cú Chulainn (combat), Tamamo (base construction), Emiya (sniping/complex counter).

If you ask if Cú Chulainn belongs to guard duty…. He's just a warrior race.

Asking a warrior race to handle guard duty? He'd gladly accept!

Rather than entrusting guard duty to a warrior, it's better to entrust it to knights like Gawain and Artoria.

And since Mordred will appear in France too... The feeling of meeting the 'Queen Mother'...? Uh... You might think Mordred would say 'Father,' but well... with that ample chest, even if the brain gets delayed... I suspect she'll end up calling her 'Queen Mother.'

Well, from Gawain's perspective, Mordred belongs to the 'scum' category.

It's close to Gawain fighting Lancelot until sunset, getting defeated by Lancelot while exhausted from serious injuries, and then Mordred landing the final blow.

Well, he spared him, but since he took the final blow in the end, Gawain probably doesn't think well of Mordred.

She's a traitor to begin with…. About 70% of the Round Table likely thinks negatively of her, with the remaining 30% being pure-hearted people who somewhat understand, which might be why the rebellion happened.

I also thought maybe they went to crush Rome, the war dragged on long-term while maintaining food supplies, negative public opinion about King Arthur rose, Mordred's support increased, and as a result, the rebellion occurred.

Well, I don't remember all the details of British lore, and what I know from fanfics and parody novels might differ from the actual content.

After finishing training like that, trembling and shivering, I petted my favorite Tamamo and spoke to myself.

"But where did Fou go?"

Really, he's become missing.

No matter how much I searched, Fou isn't in Fuyuki.

I thought he might have returned to Avalon, but the two Fou that should be there are currently engaged in an infinite beatdown of the two Merlins by themselves, and Fou's whereabouts have become ambiguous.

"Did he go on a world trip?"

"Kyiing kyiing~"

Tamamo begged as if to say, 'Don't think of other animals, just pet me,' and I just petted her, having no choice but to put Fou's whereabouts on hold.

And so, for magecraft-related matters, I learned from Medea; for close combat, from Lancelot, Artoria, and Gawain; for long-range shooting, from Emiya, the Red Archer with a glass-like mentality.

The reason I expanded my training was... because I wanted to do long-range shooting too.

I'm not a clairvoyance owner, but I thought learning something I lack isn't bad, so I learned. However, using Noble Phantasms as consumables for shooting was difficult.

Ordinary shooting was the limit, and the power was ordinary too, but it was better than nothing, so that might be fortunate.

Thanks to Tamamo, I could apply Onmyoudou to arrowheads to imbue curses, making it more likely to be effective against magi or Executors.

Since Onmyouji or Onmyoudou practitioners aren't common, magi who know how to counter this are extremely rare.

Those who have reached the Root are an exception, but it's said it doesn't work on magi with highly twisted curses, magi who are too strong to be cursed, or those with special constitutions.

And Tamamo's Onmyoudou can supposedly create an arrow that will definitely hit the target if she has something like the target's hair.

Well, even if it's said to definitely hit, I think it would be difficult to make it a Noble Phantasm that targets the heart like Lancer's.

Even a graze counts as a hit, so it might not deal fatal damage, but since you still receive the curse even if grazed, a fatal outcome can't be avoided, as Tamamo explained.

The medium for Tamamo's Onmyoudou was the stone that appeared where she died, a holy relic called the Philosopher's Stone.

Tamamo had retrieved the Philosopher's Stone after the Holy Grail War ended.

"Hey, Tamamo. If you fought Medea, who would win?"

"That's~ Of course, me! In base construction, my personality doesn't suit it, so I'd lose, but if I try, I can make something like a fox shrine~ Mikon! And for defensive aspects at that level, I could handle it with divine fox familiars, but other types of familiars don't suit me, so making them is probably impossible."

Tamamo said the reason for her Territory Creation C is because it doesn't suit her personality at all, but if you ignore that personality, it seems she can go up to EX….

Initially, in the difference between Magecraft and Onmyoudou, Magecraft seemed to have the superior performance, and Onmyoudou, being a different system, likely can't be dispelled easily.

And Medea, who heard that, chuckled and said.

"Then, shall we have a match in an empty space? Let's see which is superior, Magecraft or Onmyoudou."

"Fuhuhu, what will you do if you lose?"

"A wager, how interesting. How about, based on the Master's judgment, the loser grants any wish?"

"Alright. Don't cry later!"

And so, the battle between Tamamo and Medea began.

"So where will you fight?"

"Hmm…. I think we should fight on a deserted island this time?"

"That doesn't seem like a bad idea."

And so, the two's battle unfolded.
