Chapter 65 - Du Yue’s Insecurities (2)

Warmth spread through Du Yue's chest, yet she still asked hesitantly,

"But Husband… if you ever fell in love with someone else, what would you do?"

Su Wen glanced at her, realizing he needed to settle her doubts once and for all. He paused for a moment, clearly not expecting to face such a question in this lifetime.

"My lady," he said calmly, "how could I fall in love with someone else when I already have such a beauty by my side?"

Then he continued, his tone steady and matter of fact.

"Even if… just in case… there's a one percent chance I develop feelings for another woman, it wouldn't be easy for her to become my wife or enter this house."

"My life, my body, and my soul already belong to you," he said plainly. "How could I make a decision like that on my own? You would be the one to decide."

As he spoke, he casually threw all the responsibility back onto her, feeling quietly smug inside.

Du Yue listened to his sincere words and felt warmth bloom in her heart. The insecurity she had been holding onto eased a little, but it didn't disappear completely. That lingering doubt was a familiar part of her… an unavoidable flaw of her obsessive nature.

"Husband," she said quietly, then looked up at him. "Tell me… if another woman tries to claim you, what would you do?"

Su Wen froze.

He hadn't expected her to press the issue this far. He looked into her blue eyes, seeing emotions so tangled and intense that even he couldn't fully grasp them.

He straightened unconsciously, a thin layer of sweat forming on his back, and replied in a softer voice,

"If I ever make you sad or jealous because of another woman, can I still be called your husband?"

"I am the Young Master of this mountain," he continued calmly, "and I already belong to you completely."

Then he paused. When he spoke again, it was after a moment of thought.

"And if some other woman wants to claim me…"

In the end, he pushed the problem straight back onto her shoulders.

"Then she would have to claim you as well. I don't want that first wife, second wife nonsense. It's unfair and messy. If there's ever a second wife, then everything will be shared equally… joy, sorrow, and responsibility."

He finished with a righteous expression, as if the matter were perfectly settled.

'Damn it… I'm not even going to get close to another woman, let alone marry one', he thought silently, sighing inwardly. 'Taking care of her alone is more than enough for this lifetime'.

Warmth burst forth in Du Yue's heart. Looking at his righteous expression, all the insecurities she had been holding onto scattered like dust in the wind. She leaned against him completely, clinging to him as if he truly belonged to her alone.

Her Dao Heart quietly stabilized, firmer and stronger than ever… like a young sapling that had grown into a sturdy tree, able to endure even the fiercest storms. Her aura shifted almost instantly, becoming clearer and more settled, while her blue eyes brightened like distant stars.

She looked up at him and smiled gently, her expression soft and warm, like a passing breeze. The cocoon trembled, and countless fresh cracks spider-webbed over it, far surpassing the old ones.

Su Wen noticed the change and let out a quiet sigh of relief.

'Looks like she's finally calmed down…' he thought, unaware of the deeper transformation taking place within her Dao Heart.

"Husband, why does she have to love me too?" Du Yue asked, genuinely puzzled. "Isn't loving you enough?"

"Absolutely not," Su Wen replied without hesitation.

His expression remained calm, though inwardly he sighed. 'Dumb wife… that's enough already. Please.'

He looked upward slightly, his posture straight, face composed and proud like an immortal delivering a lesson.

"What if you two start fighting? What if one day you force me to choose between you?"

He shook his head lightly.

"My grandma once said that a woman's jealousy is terrifying... I don't want my heart torn apart."

"But if you love each other too," he continued seriously, "then even if you argue, you won't push me into choosing. And if the fight drags on…"

He coughed lightly, his expression still solemn.

"Then I can also use Butt smacking… cough cough… I mean, I can discipline you both together."

Du Yue blushed, clearly not expecting her husband to be this shameless. While her face was still heating up, Su Wen tried to rise from the emperor chair he was sitting on, clearly intending to escape. Before he could even take a step, she pushed him back down, fixing him with a pair of questioning eyes.

Su Wen sighed inwardly and decided there was no way out. He straightened slightly and spoke in a serious tone,

"Wife… y-you… and her will have to take care of each other. Since I already belong to you, then I would also belong to her. You won't get jealous…"

He paused, then looked at her with the expression of a scheming scoundrel staring at an innocent village girl.

"If you do get jealous," he added lightly, "then… just don't let her become my wife. Haha."

Then he continued, sounding like a sage explaining the supreme Dao,

"Wives share everything. If there's no mutual care, then it's unfair to both sides. It creates rifts, where you only think about yourselves instead of each other."

"Our life, our bodies, our souls, our fate… our destiny," he concluded calmly, "everything will belong to each other in the end."

Du Yue fell into deep thought.

'He's right… what if he brings someone who's jealous and bullies me? Wouldn't I become a pitiful wife then? But if she loves me too, she'd never harm me… and I'd treat her like part of myself. Then we'd truly be a family.'

She understood his logic perfectly.

'Dumb wife, I'm a busy person… please let me go… I was single for twenty-seven years in my past life, and even in this life I was just used like an idiot… And after meeting you, I wouldn't even dare breathe the same air as other women,' Su Wen groaned inwardly, completely unaware that she was seriously trying to comprehend his strange logic.

Before she could speak again, Su Wen hurriedly said,

"Wife… look at me. Who would even spare a glance at me apart from you?"

Du Yue snapped out of her thoughts and shifted her focus to him… sharp black eyes, silver-gray hair, neat scholarly robes, toned muscles, a gentle smile, and a handsome face.

Her heart skipped a beat.

A sense of crisis rose in her chest.

'Impossible. He might not be interested in them, but they'll definitely be interested in him.'

'I can't allow him to go out alone. What if he gets cornered by women with ill intentions… Yes… I'll have to guard him carefully,' she decided.

Then, as an afterthought, she added,

'And if someone kind truly appears… then she'll have to convince me first. Otherwise…'

She smiled faintly… just a little too sinister.

When Su Wen saw that smile, his heart skipped violently. A chill ran down his spine, and sweat instantly appeared on his back and forehead.

'You dumb wife… Don't give me a heart attack… Please let me go…' he cried inwardly.
