Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Mysterious Death

The sun had barely risen over the bustling streets of Shanghai, casting a golden glow over the towering skyscrapers and ancient temples. But in the opulent James family mansion, the mood was somber. Brighton James, the 18-year-old son of the James Group's founder, stood frozen in front of the large windows, gazing out at the city below. The news of his father's death still echoed in his mind like a nightmare.

James Wang, Bright's father, was a self-made billionaire who had built an empire from scratch. His ruthless business tactics and unwavering determination had earned him both admiration and enemies. But to Bright, he was more than just a father – he was a hero, a mentor, and a friend.

The police investigation concluded that James' death was a result of a brutal murder, orchestrated by none other than his own brother, Melach. The betrayal cut deep, and Bright's grief quickly turned to anger. He clenched his fists, feeling the familiar sting of tears pricking at the corners of his eyes. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for the days ahead. Revenge would be sweet, but first, he needed to understand the truth behind his father's death.

Bright's thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock on the door. It was Eva, his father's trusted lawyer and confidante. Her eyes were red-rimmed, and her usually composed demeanor was shaken.

"Bright, I'm so sorry," she said, her voice trembling. "I know how much you loved your father. We'll get through this together."

Bright nodded, his throat too tight to speak. Eva handed him a thick folder containing his father's will and testament. As he flipped through the pages, his eyes widened in shock. James had left him the majority of his wealth and control of the James Group, but with a condition – Bright had to marry within a year to secure his inheritance.

Eva explained that James had made this decision to ensure the family's legacy and protect Bright from those who would seek to exploit him. But Bright knew the real reason – his father wanted him to experience true love and happiness, just as he had with Bright's mother.

As the reality of his situation sank in, Bright's determination grew. He would honor his father's memory, uncover the truth, and avenge his death. The journey would be treacherous, but with Eva's guidance and his own cunning, he would emerge victorious.

The James family's history was complex, with secrets and lies hidden behind the façade of their wealth and power. Bright's grandfather had built the family's fortune through real estate and investments, but it was his father who had taken the business to new heights. James had been a visionary, with a keen eye for opportunity and a ruthless streak that had earned him many enemies.

Bright knew that his father's death was not an isolated incident, but a symptom of a larger problem. The James family's empire was built on a foundation of corruption and deceit, and it would take more than just a strong will to dismantle it.

As he stood there, surrounded by the opulence of his family's wealth, Bright felt a sense of unease. He knew that he was not prepared for the challenges ahead, but he was determined to learn and adapt. He would do whatever it took to protect his family's legacy and avenge his father's death.

With a newfound sense of purpose, Bright turned to Eva and asked, "What's the first step?"

Eva smiled, a hint of pride in her eyes. "We need to gather evidence, build a case against Melach, and find allies who can help us take him down."

Bright nodded, his mind racing with possibilities. He knew that it wouldn't be easy, but he was ready to take on the challenge.

The game was on, and Bright was ready to play.

As Bright and Eva began to discuss the details of the will and the next steps, the tension in the room was palpable. The sound of the city outside seemed to fade into the background, and all that mattered was the mission ahead.

Bright's phone suddenly buzzed, breaking the silence. He glanced at the screen and saw a message from an unknown number.

"Meet me at the old warehouse at midnight. Come alone."

Bright's heart skipped a beat. Who could be sending him such a cryptic message? And what did they want?

He looked up at Eva, his eyes narrowed. "I think we have a lead."

Eva's eyes widened, and she leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper. "Be careful, Bright. We don't know who we're dealing with."

Bright nodded, his determination renewed. He was ready to take on whatever lay ahead, no matter the cost.

The night was young, and the city was full of secrets. Bright was ready to uncover them, one by one.

As the meeting with Eva came to a close, Bright couldn't shake off the feeling that he was being watched. He glanced around the room, but there was no one in sight. The mansion was quiet, except for the soft hum of the air conditioning and the distant sound of the city.

Bright took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing thoughts. He knew that he had to be careful, that he couldn't trust anyone. But he also knew that he couldn't do this alone.

He looked at Eva, who was gathering her things, preparing to leave. "Eva, can I trust you?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Eva's eyes locked onto his, and for a moment, Bright saw a flicker of uncertainty. But then, her expression softened, and she smiled. "You can trust me, Bright. I'll do everything I can to help you."

Bright nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. He knew that he could trust Eva, that she was the only one who truly had his back.

As Eva left the room, Bright couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. Would he be able to uncover the truth behind his father's death? Would he be able to take down Melach and restore his family's legacy?

Only time would tell.
