Chapter 53 - Chapter 52 Cannon Fodder

Planet Phalanx, a battlefield somewhere.

A transport plane crashed here. Fortunately, the plane's speed was not high at the time, and the pilot took every possible measure to save it, causing it to crash on soft ground.

The dozen or so Soldiers on the plane were all problem Soldiers from the Punishment Battalion. Several regiments that had lost their formations were reassembled into this special forces team. And they were brought here to participate in this highly dangerous airborne operation.

In this airborne operation, each participating unit actually held back. The generals knew that casualties would be extremely heavy, so the personnel configuration was not entirely elite, but rather a mix of "new and old."

Because the combat effectiveness of an army is based on veteran Soldiers, if all the veterans are wiped out, the army's combat effectiveness will be reduced by at least 30%.

The definition of these Soldiers is contradictory: they were all elite veterans from various regiments, but they had various problems, which led to them being sent to the Punishment Battalion.

They emerged from the crashed plane without even weapons in their hands, because Punishment Battalion Soldiers are only issued weapons right before a charge.

This meant that as soon as they escaped, they were pursued by a nearby traitor scout team. Finally, they fled into a small warehouse nearby.

The few traitor scouts outside also got playful, intending to trap them like turtles in a jar and thoroughly torment the routed Soldiers inside... The traitors raised torches and threw them at the warehouse, intending to set the entire warehouse ablaze. They wanted to force them out with black smoke and high temperatures, then brutally slaughter them with bayonets, remove their bones as sacrifices, and roast their flesh over the burning flames of the warehouse... Li Feng was in the nearby dry grass, watching all of this. He slowly placed his rifle and supplies on the ground, ensuring there was no sound.

He slung his rifle over his back, took out his folding short sword, and stealthily crept low behind the Soldier furthest from the other traitors...

At this moment, the traitor was still laughing loudly, thinking about the roasted meat feast he would have today... And in the next second, a pair of hands wearing "Super Technician" gloves covered his mouth, and a sharp blade directly pierced the connection point between his neck and shoulder blade, stabbing downwards to burst his heart...

Li Feng slowly pulled out the knife, gently placed the body on the ground, and looked at the three scouts in front, lined up, holding torches, and carrying rifles.

Li Feng tucked his rifle under his arm and swept it horizontally forward...

Soon, Li Feng's boots were next to the bodies of the fallen traitors...

One traitor, not quite dead, dragged his injured body across the ground...

And Li Feng's boot quickly landed next to the crawling body of the other party, followed by... a gunshot.

Li Feng gave each of the bodies a final shot, then walked to the warehouse door and knocked.

"Anyone home?"

There was no response... Li Feng tried to push the door open. Huh? The door wasn't locked. Li Feng entered the warehouse with his rifle. It was stocked with large amounts of concrete and rebar, looking like a construction warehouse.

Li Feng walked further inside. He had indeed seen a few Astra Militarum Soldiers run into this warehouse just now. Could there be a secret passage inside?

Suddenly, a large hand knocked Li Feng down, and several figures immediately surrounded him. Seeing one figure raise a pickaxe to strike his head, Li Feng quickly shouted, while also quickly activating his "Super Affinity" panel:

"Friendly! It's a friendly!"

Hearing this, the opponent stopped the pickaxe that was about to fall and instead began to feel Li Feng's clothes, also flipping his collar and the shining Major's rank on it, visible in the dim light.

Shaanxi dialect: "He's one of us, and a Major!"

Northeast dialect: "Why are you looking at me? Quickly help him up!"

Several people scrambled to help Li Feng up from the ground. Only then did Li Feng clearly see the situation of the people inside: several dirty Soldiers, holding tools found in this construction warehouse, looking at Li Feng with evasive eyes.

"Which unit are you from...?"

"Sir, we are..." The men exchanged glances, then whispered:

"From the Punishment Battalion..."

Li Feng smiled, then patted their shoulders and began to walk outside... "Sir, the traitors outside..."

"They're all dead. I killed them. Come out, it's messy in here, not good for talking."

As Li Feng opened the warehouse door and walked out, the others, seeing that it was safe, followed, pushing open the warehouse door. At this moment, Li Feng was outside lighting a cigarette with a Zippo lighter...

Several Soldiers emerged from inside, their eyes squinting from the light cast by the grey sky outside. On the ground were the bodies of the traitor scouts who had chased them for miles.

Li Feng turned his head and offered the cigarette pack to them,

"Want one?"

The Soldiers nodded, took a cigarette from the red cigarette pack, and then took the exquisite lighter with the Emperor's holy image from Li Feng's hand.

Li Feng returned to the dry grass where he had been concealed, picked up the lasguns and supplies, returned to the warehouse entrance, placed them on the ground, then reached into his backpack and used his panel to spawn some lasgun magazines, which he threw on the ground.

The smoking routed Soldiers were all stunned. How did this Major have everything? He was like a walking treasure chest.

Li Feng pointed to the rifles and supplies on the ground.

"Now, you all equip yourselves with the weapons and supplies on the ground, and come back with me to the landing point. During this time, you must follow orders. You carry those few boxes of supplies; you can eat what's inside, but don't put it in your pockets."

The Soldiers exchanged glances, then picked up the lasguns and magazines from the ground, putting them on. They took body armor and grenades from the supply box Li Feng was carrying.

Li Feng was currently looking at the map, comparing the surrounding terrain and landmarks. He quickly determined his location, approximately 30 kilometers from the designated point. They were currently deep behind enemy lines.

Li Feng watched as they equipped themselves. They finally looked a bit like Soldiers, no longer like plucked chickens. He then led everyone towards the landing point.
