Chapter 62 - Chapter 61 A Mere Fatal Wound

"traitors of Frax! The Emperor's Iron Ring! It has surrounded your fallen city! Abandon resistance! Abandon hope! Abandon all illusions!"

The shouts from high-power loudspeakers echoed over Frax.

A Battle Sisters squad was moving quickly through the ruined streets; the last bombardment had completely crushed Bastogne's final will to defend.

Space Marine, Battle Sisters, and Astra Militarum were rapidly advancing into the city, clearing out the last traitors and Chaos.

The Astra Militarum were dragging surrendering rebels with their hands up out of the sewers; the rebels were pressed against the wall, standing in a line...

Flamethrowers were aimed at the sewers because Nurgle Beasts were reportedly lurking inside...

Sister Fides's Bolter quickly shattered several resisting rebels, then she swiftly led her squad towards the central district of Bastogne, an abandoned factory.

Just as Sister Fides's squad quickly rounded a corner, several bolter rounds were fired at her.

Sister Fides swiftly ducked to avoid the bullets, taking cover behind an obstacle.

At the end of the street were several Chaos Space Marines... These Chaos Astartes were unusually excited to see the Battle Sisters; they wanted to kill them, paint their armor with their blood, use their skin as decoration, and drink from their skulls.

Sister Fides quickly made a gesture, and the squad across the street rapidly threw several grenades in that direction...

The grenades exploded at the feet of the Chaos Space Marines, and smoke instantly enveloped the entire street...

"Hahaha, foolish! You think this can—"

Suddenly, from the smoke, a power sword shining with blue light burst forth, piercing straight towards the talking Chaos Astartes.

The power sword directly penetrated the connection seam between the armor and helmet; Sister Fides used both hands to forcefully cut off his head.

(Regarding the combat power of regular Space Marine, I've based it on the game. The concept of 'superhuman speed' is not even consistent in official GW novels, and it's too problematic, otherwise, the power levels would collapse.

It's like Sanguinius's novel; at the beginning, he's portrayed as an unbeatable Great Angel, only to be beaten to a pulp by Horus in a few moves, giving a feeling similar to Gojo Satoru.

Even Cain, wearing a Political Commissar's uniform, fought a Space Marine to a draw in a novel, though the Space Marine was holding back.)

The remaining two Chaos Astartes immediately aimed their Bolters at Sister Fides.

Sister Fides, with a swift movement, pulled out the power dagger Li Feng had given her and stabbed through one of the Bolters.

Due to a mechanical malfunction, the bullets couldn't be fired.

Sister Fides immediately dodged the shots from the other Bolter.

At this moment, several Battle Sisters rushed forward with Bolters and power swords...

Sister Fides pulled the dagger Li Feng had given her out of the Chaos Astartes' Bolter, looking at the bodies of the three Chaos Astartes and two Battle Sisters.

Sister Fides knelt on one knee, placing her hand on her two fallen comrades: "May your souls return to the Golden Throne, and when you see Li Feng, remember to tell him to wait for me."

Sister Fides stood up, removed her helmet, and looked at the towering abandoned factory in the distance.

She could already hear the battle cries and track sounds of the Astra Militarum warriors behind her.

With the ground shaking and a thunderous sound from afar, countless shells flew over Sister Fides and her squad, heading towards the towering factory.

"To be able to take down my men, you certainly have some skill."

In the distance, a massive figure emerged from the ruins of a building: black armor, red trim, and yellow script, with a bone-colored horned skull as its warband insignia, and crimson bat-like wings on a black background.

The runes were the same as those on the Chaos Astartes on the ground... The newcomer was none other than 'Chaos Champion' Aeriaz.

He held a massive Warhammer inlaid with human bones, standing amidst the ruins...

Sister Fides felt a bad premonition and tried to quickly dodge, but in the blink of an eye, those huge fists covered in blasphemous runes had already struck her armor...

Pong! Sister Fides was sent flying by the punch, crashing heavily into a pile of ruins.

The remaining Battle Sisters were about to counterattack when the blasphemous great hammer directly smashed one Sister into a bloody pulp.

Aeriaz turned and kicked another Sister, knocking her over.

The last Sister immediately drew her power sword and swung it at Aeriaz!

But Aeriaz grabbed her helmet with one hand and squeezed forcefully...

Sister Fides lay on the ground, spitting blood, buried under countless bricks and rubble in the ruins.

She could only look up and see a pair of black power armour boots approaching her, then a hand reached out, grabbed Sister Fides by the neck, and dragged her out of the ruins.

"Let me think, what should I do with you? But your little face is quite nice; I'll peel off your face and make a leather grip for my Warhammer..."

Aeriaz felt a pain in his chest.

He looked down and saw a power dagger embedded in the chest of his power armour.

Aeriaz's expression changed from confusion to rage.

He forcefully threw Sister Fides to the ground and raised his foot:

"You trash! How dare you hurt me! I'll stomp you into a bloody pulp!"

Suddenly, a high-speed projectile directly hit Aeriaz from the side; a massive hard-core armor-piercing shell broke him in half at the waist, his upper body even spinning in mid-air.

Li Feng watched the Chaos Astartes shatter in the tank commander's sights and breathed a sigh of relief.

He had to admit, although the tank's design was very retro, the internal aiming and fire control system was advanced.

Li Feng, in the commander's position, gently tapped the driver's shoulder with his foot; the driver started the engine and slowly drove forward.

Li Feng first poked his head out to check for ambushes at the intersection, then jumped out of the commander's hatch and came to Sister Fides's side.

"Hey, hey, wake up! Sister Fides! You few in the tank, go call for medics..."

Hearing the familiar voice beside her, Sister Fides slowly opened her eyes.

Before her was the Li Feng she had been yearning for.

And Li Feng's body was enveloped in white and golden light...

"Have I returned to the throne? I finally see you again..."

Li Feng looked at the girl muttering to herself, guessing she was badly injured and hallucinating.

"Sister Fides, I'm sorry, your duty to the Emperor is not yet over." (Dante: What? That sounds familiar?)

At this moment, a team of stretcher-bearers arrived from behind.

With Li Feng's help, Sister Fides and another Sister of Battle who still had a breath were lifted onto stretchers.

The pain from being moved brought Sister Fides back to consciousness; she looked at Li Feng in front of her and realized what had happened.

"You're not dead... That's great... That's really great..."

"Don't worry, there's probably no one in this world who can kill me."

Seeing that the stretcher was about to carry her away, Sister Fides struggled, wanting to get down.

"No, I still have... a mission... I must kill Savan..."

Seeing her still wanting to work in this state, Li Feng quickly pushed her back.

"How about this, you stay in the back, and when someone kills Savan, I'll get the kill for you, okay?"

But Sister Fides pulled out some mysterious injection from her power armour, gave herself a shot, and then shakily got off the stretcher...

"It's just a fatal injury..."
