Chapter 27 - chapter 27 :The Architects of the Broken Vow (Part 27) - The Contract, the Crack, and the Curatorial Duty

I. The Fragile Aftermath

Following the dramatic announcement at the Sky Lounge, Chairman Kim Taehyung had secured his corporate victory. The final conspirators were apprehended, and the company was safe. But outside the war room, the price of his victory was being paid.

Ha-eun ('Eun-ji') was no longer stable. Seeing the reflection of her former self (the Chairwoman) in the mirror and witnessing the public display of the Necessary Lie had created a psychological fracture. She was still the "funny poet," but her actions were more volatile. She would suddenly use fragments of corporate jargon, only for a moment, and then recoil in fear.

Taehyung's role had shifted from Protector to Curator—he had to meticulously manage Eun-ji's environment to ensure the painful truth never fully surfaced.

Ha-eun: ((Shouting early one morning, wearing a blue paint-splattered oversized T-shirt, holding a tube of crimson paint)) "Taehyung! Should the marriage contract include an execution clause if one party compromises their artistic integrity? I need assurances that I won't suddenly start painting corporate logos!"

Taehyung: ((Replying patiently, without looking up from a critical corporate email about asset liquidation)) "No, Eun-ji. Marriage contracts do not typically include execution clauses. But I can insert a rider demanding a minimum of 20 hours a week dedicated to Abstract Expressionism."

Ha-eun: ((Eyes narrowing suddenly, the childlike confusion replaced by a sharp, calculating stare)) "Abstract Expressionism yields no measurable R.O.I., Chairman. Such a demand is fiscally irresponsible."

Taehyung: ((He instantly closes the laptop, his heart dropping. Too sharp. Too much 'Ha-eun'.)) "Perhaps. But it provides optimal emotional returns, Eun-ji. A much needed hedge against the tyranny of the balance sheet."

Ha-eun: ((She shakes her head violently, clutching the paint tube to her chest, the cold calculation dissolving into fear)) "Hedge... balance sheet... stop saying those terrifying words! They sound like a prison made of numbers! What kind of monster thinks about return on investment when they are looking at a sunrise?"

Taehyung: ((Walking over to gently guide her to the sofa)) "No one, Eun-ji. No one. It's just old corporate noise. Focus on the sunset. Focus on the paint."

The odd questions she asked revealed to Taehyung every time that the memories of Ha-eun (the Chairwoman) were fighting to return to the surface.

II. The Wedding Planning Battle

Taehyung instructed his legal team to treat the wedding planning as a business project: swift, efficient, and highly controlled. This was the final Necessary Lie they had to reinforce.

However, Ha-eun's expectations were entirely impractical and adorable.

Ha-eun: "The wedding cake must be constructed entirely out of financial reports! Specifically, the ones detailing the Q3 losses of our nearest competitor! We will eat their failure!"

Taehyung: "We will commission a cake that looks like a financial report, Eun-ji. Eating paper is poor strategy, even for symbolic victories."

Ha-eun: "And we must read limericks instead of boring vows! Something about a CEO who wept when he saw a beautiful painting! It must be completely undignified!"

Taehyung: "I can authorize a short, dignified limerick. No weeping, Eun-ji. My emotional stability cannot be publicly questioned by the media."

The greatest difficulty was the guest list.

Ha-eun: "We must invite everyone who writes bad code! And we must make sure my wedding designer is a man who does not demand kisses on the forehead! Only respectful, artistically sensitive handshakes are allowed!"

Taehyung: "The security team has vetted all attendees, Eun-ji. And yes, no forehead kisses outside of the Critical Security Protocol."

But when Taehyung presented a formal guest list, itemized and color-coded by corporate rank, the old Chairwoman's coldness flickered in Ha-eun's eyes again.

Ha-eun: ((Her voice dropping an octave, unnervingly precise and quiet)) "This list is tedious. It contains too many expendable pawns. The ratio of overhead to leverage is unacceptable. Why isn't Kim Seok-jin invited? He knew how well I could portray tragedy. He must see the final act."

Taehyung: ((He feels the icy grip of fear around his neck. The accuracy is horrifying.)) "Seok-jin... he is busy, Eun-ji. He is... handling an unexpected merger abroad."

Ha-eun: ((The coldness breaks. She tears the list into neat, precise quarters, then crumples and throws them, bursting into genuine, painful tears)) "I don't know why I said that! It sounded so mean! I just want everyone to wear blue paint! I'm sorry, Taehyung, I don't know what that terrible voice was!"

Taehyung immediately embraced her, terrified the truth trigger had been activated. He held her close, soothing her, patting her back.

Taehyung: ((Holding her tightly, anchoring her to the present)) "It's okay. It's okay. It was just the stress of the event. No Seok-jin. But yes, we can certainly do something fun with blue paint. Perhaps Abstract Expressionism on the linen napkins?"

III. The Deepening Tension (The Cute Couple)

Taehyung knew his curatorship was no longer merely physical; it was deeply emotional. Every time he embraced Eun-ji, he was suppressing the painful memories of Ha-eun. The strange intimacy felt both necessary and profoundly dangerous.

[ADDITIONAL DIALOGUE START]

Ha-eun: ((Leaning her head on his shoulder, calmer now)) "We are very good at pretending, aren't we, Taehyung? We make a very high-performing lie."

Taehyung: "We make a very functional partnership, Eun-ji. That is all."

Ha-eun: "No. It's more than that. A partnership is just shared liabilities. We are something... riskier."

[ADDITIONAL DIALOGUE END]

One night, Ha-eun was sitting quietly, staring at her earlier drawing, 'The Broken Flower'—one side colorful, one side dark.

Ha-eun: "Taehyung," she whispered. "When we get married... what if the dark side wins? What if I become the woman who hates you and only thinks about profit margins? What if I demand an immediate hostile takeover of your emotional life?"

Taehyung sat beside her, taking her hand. His reply was no longer a strategic lie, but an honest vow.

Taehyung: "Then I will read your poetry to you every day. I will cover you in blue paint. I will bring you back to your world of color."

Taehyung: ((He turns her hand over, gently tracing the lines on her palm)) "Because the vow I've taken now is far more important than the old one. I am marrying Eun-ji, not Ha-eun. And if Ha-eun returns, she will have to negotiate with the man who fell in love with a painter."

He was emotionally accepting Eun-ji, forever suppressing his former corporate rival. But he also knew that the more he loved Eun-ji, the greater the hatred he would receive if Ha-eun ever returned. Their relationship was a delicate compromise—a contract of love threatened by psychological destruction should either party break the facade.
