Chapter 55 - Chapter 55:My Entire Life was a Lie

NATHAN'S POINT OF VIEW 

I let Isabelle guide me through the mansion like a child. My legs moved, but I wasn't really in control of them. Everything felt distant, like I was watching myself from somewhere far away.

Isabelle's hand was warm on my arm, steady and grounding. She didn't try to talk to me. Didn't ask questions. Just led me through the hallways, and I barely registered until we stopped in front of a door.

Her room.

She opened it and gently pushed me inside. "Sit," she said softly, pointing to her bed.

I sat. Stared at nothing. My lip throbbed where Alex had hit me, but the pain felt far away. Unimportant compared to everything else.

I heard Isabelle moving around, the sound of a door opening, and water running. She was in the bathroom, probably getting something to clean me up probably. I should care about that. Should say something, thank her, apologize for bleeding on her floor.

But I couldn't form words. Couldn't think past the loop playing in my head.
