I stood outside Nathan's door, my hand poised to knock, my heart pounding like a frenzied drum. This moment felt monumental. No more running, no more overthinking. I couldn't let fear govern me any longer.

"Life's too short," Elena's words echoed in my mind, pushing me forward.

With a surge of courage, I knocked.

The door swung open almost instantly. Nathan stood there, disheveled hair and intense eyes, a blend of hope and anxiety flickering across his expression. He wore dark jeans and a snug gray sweater, sleeves rolled up, giving him an effortlessly attractive, almost intimate vibe.

"Hey," he said, his voice a low murmur that sent shivers down my spine.

He stepped back, granting me entry with a silent invitation. As I walked in, I was enveloped by the familiar scent of his space, fresh linen mingling with his cologne and something unmistakably him. It felt like stepping into a cozy sanctuary, one I had longed for.
