ELENA'S POINT OF VIEW
I stood in front of the mirror, smoothing down the silk fabric of my dress for what felt like the hundredth time. The emerald green brought out the color of my eyes, or at least that's what the boutique assistant had told me when I bought it last week. Right now, all I could see was how it clung to my body, how it seemed to accentuate the slight roundness of my stomach, which wasn't quite there yet but felt enormous to me.
Two months pregnant. Still early. Still a secret to most of the world. But tonight, with Victoria's birthday gathering, with family all around, it felt like everyone would be able to see it. Like I was walking around with a sign that said "pregnant and terrified."
