Chapter 42 - Chapter 41: What’s Super Saiyan 2? I Choose a Hundred Years of Peace!

As Turles and the Spirit Tree vanished, the gloom shrouding the sky dissipated, and warm sunlight once again bathed the Earth.

The parched, yellow land—once drained of all vitality—miraculously began to show faint traces of green.

[The God-level selection system]

[Ding! Detected that the minions of the Dark Demon Realm have been purged. However, the spatiotemporal coordinates they left behind have exposed this world. The host now faces a high risk of continued harassment in the future!]

[Warning! Major causality-level obstacle detected: Dark Demon Realm! This threat is sufficient to fundamentally destroy the host's slacker ambition!]

[God-level choices triggered. Please make your selection, Host!]

Two completely different light screens appeared before Loren's eyes.

[Choice One: What does this have to do with me? Uphold the ultimate essence of laziness—so long as I don't participate, trouble will never catch up to me.

Reward: The system will consume energy to construct a "Spacetime Causality Shield Barrier," lasting one hundred years, completely isolating the host from any perception or interference from the Dark Demon Realm.]

[Choice Two: Take the initiative and eliminate future threats! Travel to the Nest of Time where the Supreme Kai resides, accept a commission, become a Spacetime Patrolman, and actively participate in the war against the Dark Demon Realm.

Reward: Normal combat power increased to 10,000,000. Immediately unlock "Super Saiyan Two."]

Loren didn't even blink as he looked at the two options.

Super Saiyan Two?

Ten million normal combat power?

They were tempting—very tempting.

But what was the price?

Become a Spacetime Patrolman?

Accept commissions?

Work overtime across time and space?

Wasn't that just finding a boss and turning himself from a free slacker into a cosmic corporate slave?

Just imagining it made Loren feel uncomfortable all over.

"Whoever wants to go can go. I'm not becoming a corporate slave," Loren muttered inwardly.

As for the Dark Demon Realm?

A hundred years of shielding was more than enough.

A century later, Goku and Vegeta—those two hardworking maniacs—would probably already be Super Saiyan Blue, Super Saiyan Purple, or whatever ridiculous form came next.

If the sky fell, the battle junkies would handle it.

And in a hundred years, his own strength would easily reach Angel-level or higher. Sweeping everything aside then would be far more efficient than working himself to death now.

"System."

Loren made the most decisive choice since his transmigration.

"I choose One."

[Choice confirmed.]

[Generating "Spacetime Causality Shield Barrier"… Estimated time: 10 seconds… Generation complete.]

[Wishing the Host a pleasant slacker life.]

A subtle, unique fluctuation spread outward from Loren, briefly enveloping space-time itself before vanishing without a trace.

Done.

Clock out.

Go home. Sleep.

Loren turned around, looked at the still-petrified Z Fighters, and lazily waved.

"Hey."

"My overtime's finished. I'm heading back to catch up on sleep."

"You guys clean up the rest."

Before his words fully landed, Loren had already vanished.

Only Goku and the others remained, frozen in place for a long time.

Goku raised his hand, staring at his palm.

Super Saiyan.

"I… I have to reach that level too!"

He slowly clenched his fist, fire burning in his eyes.

In stark contrast, Vegeta lay on the other side.

"Hoo… hoo…"

He lay amid the rubble, breathing heavily, his body trembling from pain and exhaustion.

But he didn't move.

Not because he couldn't.

Because he didn't want to.

His eyes were hollow, as though his soul had been ripped out.

He was broken.

Completely and utterly broken.

His proud Saiyan Prince bloodline.

His insane, self-destructive training under a hundred times gravity.

His unyielding Saiyan honor.

All of it had been shattered by Turles.

Everything he had worked for felt like a joke.

"Vegeta!"

Bulma rushed over in her air car, followed by a Capsule Corporation medical craft.

She spotted Vegeta immediately and jumped out, running to him without hesitation.

"How are you?!"

She supported him, and when she saw his blood-covered body and barely-there breathing, her eyes instantly reddened.

Vegeta's lips moved, but no sound came out.

He only stared blankly at the sky.

A few days later.

West City, Capsule Corporation.

Inside a top-tier medical pod, Vegeta was submerged in green restorative fluid, eyes tightly closed.

Bulma stood outside the transparent pod, looking at the man who was always so arrogant—yet now looked as fragile as an abandoned child.

Complex emotions stirred in her heart.

Nearby, Goku had almost fully recovered after a few days of rest and was already preparing for higher-intensity training.

Just then, a familiar voice echoed in his mind.

"Goku! Goku! Can you hear me?!"

It was the Supreme Kai.

"Lord Supreme Kai?"

Goku was surprised.

"Goku, listen carefully."

The Supreme Kai's voice was solemn.

"Although Turles was dealt with perfectly this time, the universe is filled with countless threats."

"You must master the power of Super Saiyan."

"Go ask Loren how he did it."

"You can't always rely on him. What if he's not around one day?"

Goku nodded subconsciously.

He couldn't always rely on Loren.

His home had to be protected by his own strength.

And besides—

A small smile appeared on Goku's face.

Learning from someone strong, then surpassing them.

That was exciting.

"I understand, Lord Supreme Kai!"

Instead of going straight to Loren, Goku flew to Capsule Corporation to find Vegeta and invite him along.

When Goku arrived, Vegeta had just stepped out of the medical pod, wearing a clean battle suit.

"Kakarot?"

Vegeta frowned instinctively.

"What are you doing here? Come to laugh at me?"

"No, Vegeta."

Goku shook his head, unusually serious.

"I came to ask you to do something together."

Vegeta snorted and turned away.

"I'm not interested."

"Let's go find Loren together!"

Vegeta's body stiffened.

Goku continued, ignoring the reaction.

"I want to ask him how to become a Super Saiyan."

"Vegeta… do you want to come?"

Silence.

Vegeta stood with his back to Goku, fists clenched, body trembling.

A joke.

He was the Prince of all Saiyans.

How could he do something so humiliating?

But—

That golden figure appeared uncontrollably in his mind.

Go… or not go?

Dignity… or power?

Goku waited quietly, not rushing him.

After a long while, Vegeta's tense body slowly relaxed.

"…Fine."

"I'll go with you."

He lifted his chin slightly, clinging to the last scraps of pride.

"But remember this, Kakarot."

"I'm only accompanying you."

"I'm definitely not… asking him for guidance."
