Roxy stared at the water, rubbing her arm.
Since it was technically summer, the water was crisp and cool rather than bone-chilling, though the massive trees made the air feel cold.
Kaelen sat waist-deep in the rushing water, looking like a sulking wet dog.
It reminded Roxy of her husky she left back on earth.
And surprisingly enough, right now, Kaelan acted like him.
Roxy stood on the bank, her sleeves rolled up, wielding a bright yellow, flower-shaped loofah she had purchased from the System Shop.
"Arms up, Clifford," Roxy commanded, stepping onto a flat rock to reach him better. "If I find one tick on you, I'm shaving you bald."
Kaelen grumbled, clearly annoyed at her tone, but he obeyed. He lifted his massive arms, exposing his scarred ribs to her mercy. He looked completely out of his element.
The Wolf King, the Scourge of the North... was currently being bathed like a toddler.
It didn't make any sense. But Roxy right now knew that her life didn't make sense.
