Chapter 7 - Who's afraid of who

The Ogryns are a subhuman species that evolved on high-gravity planets.

They are burly, rough giants who are over three meters tall.

They are extremely strong and can soak up enough firepower to wipe out a squad.

"If you don't want to be beaten to a pulp, don't mess with an Ogryn."

This is a warning that's specifically spelled out in the manual distributed by the Imperial Military Affairs Department to every Astra Militarum soldier.

After being blessed by Chaos, their combat power went through the roof, comparable to a humanoid Titan.

"Die, heretic! In the name of the Emperor, I grant you destruction!"

Rigby pulled the trigger of the multi-barrel laser heavy machine gun and laid into the enemies rushing toward us.

Dense lasers poured out like a violent storm.

Those mutants were harvested in batches like ears of wheat.

In just a few breaths, they were all turned to mush, smelling like burnt toast.

Only the two Chaos Ogryns were shrugging it off.

They wore heavy armor and were armed with power clubs and huge shields.

When their charge began, there was a rumbling sound, like a tank rolling forward.

Lasers and bullets hitting them were like water off a duck's back.

The Chaos Ogryns trampled on the broken and charred limbs of the mutants and charged headfirst.

With brute force, one of them slammed into Rigby and the multi-barrel laser heavy machine gun, sending them flying.

~Boom!

Rigby smashed hard against the wall.

The pain all over his body made his face twist into a knot.

Before he could come to his senses, a whistling sound was heard.

He looked up to see a Chaos Ogryn swinging a power club down on his head.

Then, everything went dark.

"What a terrible way to go!"

"Damn, he's nothing but ground beef!"

"Is this Chaos Ogryn seriously this terrifying?"

"Didn't they say Ogryns were slow? I think these two are pretty sharp. They even knew to take out our heavy firepower first."

The players looked at the Chaos Ogryns with shock and fear in their eyes.

These two big guys charged in and took out our biggest gun.

One of them had smashed Rigby into pulp with a club.

"The Emperor protects you. Do not be afraid. Keep firing!"

Daniel was shaken to the core by the terrifying strength of the Chaos Ogryns.

He hastily cast his skills—"Prayer" and "Fanatical"—to buff us up.

He shouted, "Go away, demons and monsters!" while shooting.

Daniel used his skill—Emperor's Light—to Expel the Warp Blessing from the Chaos Ogryns and put a damper on their power.

Even so, players were no match for the Chaos Ogryns.

When a Chaos Ogryn launched a charge, it was like a runaway train, charging forward without any fear of consequences.

If you didn't watch your step and failed to dodge in time, you were toast and would be knocked away.

In mild cases, you'd break a few ribs, while in severe cases, your bones and tendons would be shattered, and you'd completely lose the ability to move.

Those mutants were annoying as all get out, too.

As soon as they saw a player struggling to move, they swarmed him and tore him apart.

In a short time, the players were dropping like flies, and our numbers were severely cut.

"My leg! My leg is broken!" SpaceKing screamed bloody murder while crawling on the ground.

When the Chaos Ogryn rushed over, he was unable to dodge and fell to the ground, breaking his leg.

SpaceKing tried to crawl to safety, but the mutants kept coming at him.

With nowhere to run, he could only hunker down against the wall and let loose at the mutants with his laser gun.

After shooting a few in succession, he was overwhelmed by the surging mutants.

When he realized he was about to bite the dust, he touched the fragmentation grenade hanging around his waist.

"For the Emperor!"

~Boom!

The grenade went off.

More than a dozen mutants were blown away in an instant, with broken flesh and blood scattered all over the ground.

"Hurry up and charge, Plasma Gun!"

Sam used his gun to shoot at the mutants rushing towards him.

He occasionally lowered his head to check the charging muzzle of the plasma gun, his face full of anxiety.

Accompanied by a pleasant click, a rich blue light escaped from the barrel of the plasma gun, indicating that the plasma charging was complete.

"It's finally ready!"

A look of joy appeared on Toupi's face. He stopped shooting and picked up the plasma gun.

He aimed the gun at one of the Chaos Ogryns.

He was gearing up to let the other party taste the power of plasma.

But in the next second.

The other Chaos Ogryn charged at him.

The huge body, like a tank, slammed into him and knocked him against the wall.

The charged plasma gun was also thrown away and fell far away.

Sam felt a sense of shock in his heart.

Just as he was about to crawl over to pick up the plasma gun, he heard a whistling sound.

He turned his head and saw a thick, big, black power club falling toward his head.

"It's over. He's gonna fold me!"

Sam's eyes widened as one last thought entered his mind.

A sound like a pumpkin being smashed was heard.

Then everything went black.

Daniel killed a mutant with an engineering shovel, then slid over, picked up the plasma gun, and pulled the trigger at a Chaos Ogryn.

A huge ball of light with blue arcs whizzed out from the muzzle, streaked through the air, and landed right on the targeted Chaos Ogryn.

It instantly vaporized the opponent's upper body.

Only the thick legs were left standing there, emitting burnt and smelly heat.

The protective plate of the gun barrel popped up, and hot air came out with a sizzling sound.

"Looks like you're still not loyal enough."

Looking at the overheated plasma gun, Daniel tossed it aside and swung his engineer shovel to knock over a mutant that was rushing towards him.

"Somebody help me!" The Warmaster shouted in horror.

He was surrounded by a group of mutants.

The distance was too close to shoot, so he could only hit the mutants with the butt of his gun.

But there were too many enemies. If you knocked down one, two more would take its place.

After a while, he was overwhelmed by the mutants' numbers.

It looked like he was about to be torn to pieces.

Yuji activated the "Warp Siphon" to absorb energy, and then converted it into a shock wave and released it, blowing away the mutants around the Warmaster.

But in the next second, Yuji was ambushed by the mutant behind him.

The sharp claws pierced his chest, and he died instantly.

"You bastards, I'm going to fight you all!"

Seeing Yuji's tragic end was a wake-up call that made the Warmaster see red.

The ultra-realistic gaming environment had his nerves on edge.

Now, he witnessed with his own eyes that his comrade died tragically while trying to save him.

He'd forgotten he was just playing a game; he just kept emptying the clip into the mutants.

Daniel was also fighting for his life and couldn't lend a hand to the players, as he was shooting at the only remaining Chaos Ogryn while swinging an engineering shovel to hit the mutants that surrounded him.

"If I'm going out, I'm going out with a bang! Who's scared of who?"

Fred had strapped a whole bunch of thermal bombs to his chest at some point and was holding the detonator.

He pressed the detonator and rushed toward the Chaos Ogryn.

"For the Emperor!"

~Boom! ~Boom!

A dull explosion sounded.

The terrifying airwave blew away all the nearby mutants and players.

The mad Warmaster crashed into a wall, grimacing in pain but becoming much more sober.

Daniel crouched down to avoid the shock wave caused by the explosion.

Fred's kamikaze move had blown the Chaos Ogryn to smithereens.

With the Chaos Ogryn out of the picture, the remaining mutants were easy pickings.

Daniel led the rest of us and took them out one by one.

After blocking the other doors of the tactical projection hall and confirming that the mutants couldn't get in, Daniel let the players rest.

This battle was brutal.

We had started with fifteen players, but now there were only five left.

And they were all injured.

"You've all done a great job. Rest for a while. Injured players can be treated with medical kits."

After Daniel finished speaking to them, he went to turn on the control console in the tactical projection hall.

With the hum of machinery and the flicker of light, the projection device turned on.

The dancing light painted the outline of the Imperial Glory and our exact location.

A villa area somewhere in real life.

Rigby gasped and bolted upright from the bed.

Everything was black as night.

A line of golden text emerged from the darkness.

It will take another 5 hours to log in to the game, please wait patiently

Insufficient exp points, unable to speed up resurrection progress

He reached out and yanked off his helmet, and soft light flooded hisvision.

"This game is seriously next-level real!"

Rigby went to the refrigerator and poured a glass of milk to calm his excitement.

He walked to the study, sat in front of the computer, and found that the icon of the Warhammer Discord was flashing continuously.

The number of group chat messages was piling up fast—it was already at 99+.
