Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Driftwood Crown

Whoosh—"

The evening wind blew, and the fierce flames crackled, consuming the remains of Queen Rhaella, the mother.

According to the traditions passed down through the Targaryen Family for generations, every Dragonlord member ultimately chose to be reduced to ashes by Dragonflame.

They were destined to be born of blood and die of fire.

However, at this moment, Merias, the Hatchling Dragon on Dragonstone, was still too young to even breathe fire.

It could only survive by being artificially fed ewe's milk.

Viserys Targaryen stood at the head seat, anxiously watching the dragon eggs burning in the flames.

His eyes narrowed, and a row of black Valyrian characters appeared before him.

Queen Rhaenyra's mount — Syrax's dragon eggs, a magical product of blood and fire.

Magic Recharge: 20% (continuously rising)

Bloodline Recharge: 100%

Energy Recharge: 100%

Waking up!

"Indeed, magic is hidden in the bloodline of every wizard's descendant!"

Viserys Targaryen looked at the changing text before him, incredibly excited.

Whether it was the Forty Dragon Families of Valyria or the Targaryen Family, at their root, they were all descendants of wizards!

No wonder the Red Priestess traveled thousands of miles to King's Landing, even instigating Stannis Baratheon to sacrifice sinners with fire.

What she was after was nothing more than the magic within the bodies of commoners who possessed a thin royal bloodline.

"No wonder throughout the entire Game of Thrones world, only the lord of light is so skilled at performing miracles!"

Viserys Targaryen scoffed dismissively.

These so-called miracles were actually the bloodline magic of the Targaryen Family descendants on Dragonstone.

Looking at the newly hatched Hatchling Dragon, Viserys Targaryen finally breathed a sigh of relief.

The reason why the later Targaryen royal family could not hatch dragon eggss was because they could not replenish the dragon eggs's magic!

Now that Viserys Targaryen had found the secret to hatching dragon eggss, the prosperity of the Targaryen Family was just around the corner!

"Lord of the Seven Kingdoms!"

"Viserys!"

"The one true King!"

...As the new Hatchling Dragon hatched, all the nobles on Dragonstone fell into a frenzy, raising their swords and shouting loudly.

It was well known that Aegon Targaryen conquered the entire continent of Westeros with the help of three dragons.

As long as the Hatchling Dragon matured, it would only be a few years until the iron throne was within reach!

"Your Highness, the coronation ceremony has begun!"

Maester Daniel said excitedly, reminding Viserys in a low voice.

The miracle of the dragon's revival once again mythologized this "prophet" who called himself Dreamwalker.

Compared to mortals born of flesh and blood, the Targaryen Family would once again, like gods, overlook the entire continent of Westeros from the pinnacle of power.

"Your Majesty, The Reach pledges allegiance to you!"

Olenna Redwyne, the Old Rose, brought her grandson and granddaughter, leaving The Reach and traveling across the Narrow Sea.

As a seasoned veteran of treacherous court politics, after confirming the hatching of Daenerys Targaryen's small dragon, she hastily led all the nobles of The Reach to switch sides again, mercilessly abandoning her useless son.

"Clang!"

The Gold Cloaks' longswords were held before the three, causing Olenna Redwyne's expression to change.

"Your Majesty, although my father was defeated, he absolutely did not surrender. This is a ploy by the usurper to sow discord!"

Margaery Tyrell, the Little Rose, who could barely stand steadily, explained, "House Tyrell has always been a loyal supporter of the iron throne!"

Listening to her tender voice, Viserys Targaryen finally waved his hand, signaling the guards around to clear a path.

"Little Rose" Margaery Tyrell was still a young child with fair skin at this time, but in Viserys's eyes, she already had a hint of a noble lady's demeanor.

Compared to the "Knight of Flowers" Loras Tyrell beside her, the sniffling, teary-eyed little boy, the Little Rose was clearly much more mature and composed.

As the first lord to respond to the royal family's call at the start of the war, even if the 'inflatable fish' truly surrendered, Viserys Targaryen had no intention of making things difficult for his family.

What's more, Viserys Targaryen needed the naval fleet of Olenna Redwyne's maiden family.

Looking at the grandson and granddaughter she brought with her, it was clear that this was House Tyrell's pledge of allegiance to the iron throne!

At this time, Olenna Redwyne, the Old Rose, was not as decrepit as she was in the original story; beneath her beautiful face, her former captivating appearance, which could bring disaster to a nation, was still clearly visible.

But Viserys did not let down his guard; how could the title of Queen of Thorns be easy to deal with?

Little did he know that even in later generations, when the Little Rose easily manipulated the future "enlightened monarch" King Joffrey, the Queen of Thorns still mercilessly poisoned him!

The poison of the rose is unpredictable!

..."In the sight of gods and men, we hereby crown Viserys Targaryen, King of the andals, the Ghiscari people, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm."

Maester Daniel, wearing a simple priest's robe, shouted loudly.

Immediately, a crown of the Seven Kingdoms, forged from valyrian steel, was placed on Viserys Targaryen's head amidst the gaze of all.

This crown was specially crafted by Aegon after his conquest of Westeros, to commemorate his great achievements in conquering the Seven Kingdoms.

He probably never imagined that hundreds of years later, on this day, the Targaryen Family would return to its original state, holed up on Dragonstone.

"Long live the new King!"

"Long live the Targaryen!"

"Long live the true Dragon!"

...With the commencement of the coronation ceremony, the crowd finally shook off the gloom brought by Queen Rhaella's death and erupted into cheers for the new King's coronation.

On Viserys Targaryen's shoulders, two Hatchling Dragons stood, one on the left and one on the right, roaring at the sky, as if proclaiming to the world that true Dragons would soon rule the world.

"Bad news, Your Highness, no... Your Majesty."

A messenger rushed in.

"The Iron Islands... Balon Greyjoy of the Iron Islands has rebelled! He has proclaimed himself King of the Driftwood and the Narrow Sea, and has launched a surprise attack on the Stormlands. Please send aid as soon as possible!"

At these words, everyone instantly stared at Viserys Targaryen, who had just ascended the throne.

Needless to say, Viserys immediately knew that this must be the doing of the former Hand, Tywin Lannister.

Perhaps on the battlefield, Lord Tywin was not a god of war.

But his weapons were not just iron blood and swords; he also had letters and ravens!

Anyone who dared to underestimate this former Hand would not end well!

"Your Majesty, Storm's End is easy to defend and difficult to attack; it has never fallen, except to dragons!"

Randal Tarly, the Earl, shook his head dismissively and retorted, but the words suddenly caught in his throat.

Didn't this prophet just shatter the myth of Storm's End's invincibility?

"Your Highness, our advantage is the navy."

Ser Joffrey looked at Randal Tarly, the Earl, and shook his head, saying, "Now that the rebels have the Iron Fleet, our sole naval advantage is no longer significant!"
