"I'm leaving," Marco said. He packed his things in such a hurry.
"Marco, wait, please! Let's talk about this," I pleaded. I love him so much—he can't do this to me!
"Love, please. We've been together for three years. Let's talk, love, please! I'm begging you!"
I was about to kneel in front of him. I didn't know what to say, but I was desperate. I love him so much. He was my childhood crush, and I was the one who courted him because he didn't know how to court me. I made the effort for us to be together. I was happy that he said yes, even though I was a woman courting a man. Things were different, but I didn't care as long as I could make him mine.
But when Julia came back, things changed. He became cold. He even put a password on his phone. He always rejected our dates.
I don't know what to do.
"Let's end this, Jarcee. I didn't love you in the first place. I just pitied you—that's why I said yes. I didn't even realize we lasted three years. Julia is here now. I love her, and I'm going to marry her."
He said it calmly, no emotions, just a blank expression while packing his things. When he finished, he left the condo, and I—desperate—followed him.
"Please, Marco! I'm begging you!"
People were staring at us, but I didn't care. I needed my Marco.
"Stop this, Jarcee! I don't love you at all. Please respect my decision!"
It was the first time he shouted at me. Tears streamed down my face. I cried like a child. The pain was unbearable.
"Marco, please! Give me one more chance. I will prove my love to you. I will make sure you'll love me too. Just please, Marco! Please! I'm begging you. I don't care if you marry Julia—make me your mistress instead! I can't live without you, Marco, please!"
I was desperate. I didn't care about anything, as long as Marco and I stayed together.
"Stop this! People are watching us. You're desperate! I don't like desperate women!"
He shouted, and I froze. His words cut through me. Yes, I was desperate. I loved him—was it a crime to love someone this much? Was it wrong to do everything just for them to love you back? I didn't know. I started blaming myself. Why am I like this? Is it me—or love?
"Beeeeeeep! beeeeeeep!"
A loud truck horn blared, and for the first time, Marco looked back at me with worry in his eyes.
"Marco!" I called happily. But—
"Jarceeeeeeee!"
"Beeeeeeep!! Booogsh!"
I didn't understand why the truck horn was so loud—until I realized it was because of me. My body wouldn't move. My vision blurred. I couldn't see clearly, but I knew Marco was shouting for help. I could hear him, but my body was giving up.
I can't die like this.
I need Marco and I to be together.
I want him to marry me—not Julia.
Please, Lord… give me a chance.
A chance... cha—chaaa...
"JARCEEEEE!"
Marco's voice was the last thing I heard.
