Chapter 24 - chapter 24

SCREEN 1 – THE FIRST UPPER MOON KILLED IN 100+ YEARS (DARK VERSION)

The news doesn't spread like wildfire.

It spreads like a plague.

Whispered by terrified crows.

Carried by slayers who still smell like blood.

Echoed across barracks where bodies lie under cloth.

Upper Rank Six… defeated.

For the first time in a century, an Upper Moon is dead.

And the survivors swear they saw something impossible:

Two skeletons fighting side-by-side with a demon-turned girl and three insane rookies.

Daki's beauty burned into ash.

Gyutaro's poison dripping into dirt.

A wasteland of corpses sealed the truth.

The Demon Slayer Corps feels something it hasn't felt in decades:

Fear. Hope. Confusion.

All mixed together into something unstable.

---

At Headquarters

Inside the great hall, the Hashira stand in silence.

Not out of respect—

but disbelief.

Blood drips from letters on Kagaya's report.

Someone handled them with shaking hands.

Shinobu reads aloud:

"'Incident report: Upper Rank Six annihilated.

Major combat participants: Tengen Uzui… Tanjiro Kamado… Nezuko Kamado…

Zenitsu Agatsuma… Inosuke Hashibira…

…Sans.

Papyrus.'"

The room's temperature drops.

Giyu's brows tighten.

"Skeletons held off Gyutaro. That shouldn't be possible."

Mitsuri shivers.

"It's incredible… but also scary. How can bones move like that?"

Obanai rests a hand on his sword.

"They aren't natural. Even demons don't move like that."

Sanemi clicks his tongue.

"Doesn't matter. If they can kill Upper Moons, point them at Muzan and let them break him."

Tengen smirks through his bandages.

"That short one? His attacks were so fast I couldn't see half of them."

He pauses.

"And the tall one screamed louder than Inosuke. I didn't think that was possible."

The Hashira can't decide if they should be grateful or horrified.

---

Ubuyashiki Speaks

Silence ends when Kagaya finally opens his eyes.

"Upper Rank Six…"

His voice is calm but every word feels like a knife sliding through fog.

"…has been slain. After a century of failure."

He reads the names again. Slowly. Carefully.

"Sans.

Papyrus."

He smiles, but with a trace of sadness.

"They have the strength of monsters…

but the hearts of humans."

A beat.

"We accept them as allies. But we do not fully understand them.

And anything we do not understand may one day destroy us."

Even the Hashira feel his warning.

---

At the Butterfly Estate

The mood is different here.

Quieter.

More fragile.

Sans lies on a bed, wrapped in bandages soaked with demon blood that refuses to wipe off.

He doesn't need healing.

He just hasn't moved since the battle.

"heh.

first upper moon taken down in a hundred years.

guess i overdid it."

There's still a faint scorch mark on the floor from where he nearly erased Gyutaro's soul.

Papyrus stands proudly beside him, cape torn, eye sockets bright.

"YES! THE GREAT PAPYRUS HAS HELPED SAVE THE DAY!

THE CORPS SHALL SING SONGS OF OUR GLORY!"

Shinobu presses a cloth to Sans's skull.

"You two were… terrifying."

A polite smile. Too polite.

"You saved countless lives. But I have never seen magic that bends reality like that."

Papyrus gasps.

"DO WE RECEIVE AN AWARD OF HONOR?"

Sans rolls his eye.

"bro, they're slayers, not kindergarten teachers."

Shinobu sighs lightly.

"…I can find a badge if it keeps you both from blowing holes in my courtyard again."

Papyrus vibrates with pride.

"YES! A BADGE OF HEROISM!"

Outside the door, slayers whisper:

"They killed an Upper Moon…"

"They're not human…"

"Are they safe to keep here?"

"I heard the short one erased Gyutaro's spine…"

"I heard the tall one tore Daki's arms off…"

Fear and admiration mix until no one can tell the difference.

SCREEN 2 – UZUI'S RETIREMENT (DARK VERSION)

Morning light bleeds over the Butterfly Estate, pale and cold.

Uzui steps out, wrapped in bandages stained deep red.

His missing arm throbs like a warning.

His face is still handsome, but drained—not flashy.

Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu, Sans, and Papyrus gather around him.

Uzui takes a long breath.

"This is it.

I'm done."

Zenitsu's voice cracks.

"Y-you're quitting? After all that!?"

Inosuke snarls.

"WHAAAAAT? YOU CAN'T STOP FIGHTING! YOU HAVEN'T EVEN TAUGHT ME HOW TO EXPLODE ENEMIES YET!"

Uzui shakes his head.

"I've bled enough. Lost enough.

And if I stay, my wives will lose me too."

He looks at them—really looks at them.

"You kids fought through hell.

You saw death up close.

You survived something most Hashira never did."

Tanjiro bows deeply.

"Uzui… thank you. For trusting us."

Uzui's smile softens.

"You didn't just help me.

You helped the Corps."

He glances at the skeletons.

"And you two…

I don't know what you are.

But you fight like you're used to burying monsters."

Sans gives a lazy half-smile.

"yeah.

something like that."

Papyrus salutes, voice cracking.

"UZUI! YOUR FLASHINESS SHALL LIVE ON THROUGH US!"

Uzui taps his forehead.

"Don't die.

That'd be very unflashy."

Then he walks away, broken and brilliant.

A man who faced an Upper Moon… and lived.

---

SCREEN 3 – MUZAN'S RAGE (DARK VERSION)

Infinity Castle twists like a living nightmare.

A biwa chord echoes.

Walls stretch like ribs.

Shadows crawl like insects.

The Upper Ranks appear, summoned by the weight of Muzan's fury.

Akaza kneels.

Doma smiles.

Hantengu trembles.

Gyokko hisses.

Kokushibo stands silent.

Then Muzan enters.

His footsteps are soft.

Too soft.

Which means he's beyond furious.

The air curdles around him.

"Daki. Gyutaro."

His voice cuts the space apart.

"Dead."

Akaza stiffens.

Doma's grin twitches.

Even Kokushibo lowers his head.

Muzan raises his hand, blood dripping from the nails.

"One hundred years.

Not a single Upper Moon lost.

Until now."

The castle trembles.

"And you expect me to believe…"

His voice turns into a whisper of pure hatred.

"…that TWO SKELETONS helped cause it?"

He laughs once.

Sharp.

Unhinged.

"They humiliated my demons.

They interfered with my plans.

They stood beside that wretched Kamado boy."

He steps forward.

"These creatures…

Sans.

Papyrus."

The room goes cold enough to kill mortals on the spot.

"They are not demons. Not humans.

Not natural."

He lifts his chin.

"Which means they are a threat."

Akaza tries to speak.

"My lord, I will personally—"

Muzan's gaze snaps toward him.

Akaza goes silent instantly.

Even he fears that look.

Muzan finishes:

"I want their skulls crushed.

I want their bones scattered.

I want their SOULS destroyed."

His aura swallows the chamber.

"And Kamado Tanjiro—

kill him before sunrise."

The command slams into the Upper Ranks like a storm.

Doma bows cheerfully.

"I'll bring you their heads, Muzan-sama."

Kokushibo simply nods, unreadable.

Akaza doesn't move.

His fists are trembling.

Muzan turns away.

"My patience has ended."

His voice echoes like death itself.

"Find the skeletons.

Find the Kamado boy.

Erase them."

One chord.

The castle collapses into silence.

Muzan is finished tolerating their existence.

And he will come for them himself if the Upper Ranks fail.
