Chapter 6 - Episode 5: The Language of Touch

They have a movie night in Elara's apartment above the shop. They're curled up on the couch under a blanket, legs tangled together. Elara is playing with Maya's hair, twirling the soft strands around her fingers, while Maya rests her head in her lap. The movie is entirely forgotten.

Maya shifts, turning to look up at Elara. The air grows thick and warm. Elara leans down, her face just inches from Maya's. They can feel each other's breath. Their eyes flutter closed... but the moment is broken by a loud clap of thunder from the movie soundtrack. They jolt apart, laughing breathlessly, the tension dissolving into shared, nervous giggles.

Later, as they're lying side-by-side, Elara reaches out and gently traces the line of Maya's eyebrow, then the curve of her jaw. Her touch is feather-light, exploratory. "You're so beautiful," she murmurs. Maya catches her hand and presses a kiss to her palm, a gesture so intimate it steals Elara's breath.

They fall asleep like that, fully clothed, on the couch. Elara wakes first to the morning light, with Maya curled into her side, an arm thrown across her waist. She has never felt more at peace. She watches Maya sleep, committing the feeling of her weight and warmth to memory.
