Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

I pulled the trigger, and the last man standing fell to the ground, I admired my work before moving on to the next important thing. My team, hidden in the dark and filled with adrenaline, waited for my command. "Now!" I shouted, and we rushed into the main headquarters, focused on one goal: take down Blaze.

Blaze was unpredictable—a former soldier turned hunter who thrived on the excitement of the chase. My skilled hackers were already working on the CCTV feeds to keep us hidden as we prepared for chaos inside. I spotted Blaze right away, relaxed in his office, leaning back on a large desk with a glint in his eyes and a gun aimed at me. The air was thick with tension as if we were just about to explode into chaos.

"Took you long enough," he said, flashing a devilish grin as he put his gun down and lit a cigarette. I couldn't believe how calm he was. "You knew I was coming?" I shot back, feeling a chill run down my spine.

"Yep, knew your plan before you did." His grin became sharper, filled with dark pleasure. "Go ahead, shoot. Just like you were told." Doubt crept in; something was very wrong. "How did you find out about this operation?" I asked, my heart racing.

He took a slow drag from his cigarette, blowing out smoke casually. "It's simple. You've walked right into a trap." His laughter felt like ice-cold water pouring over me. "Richard warned me about your plan to kill me, but he didn't tell you this trap is for you, not me."

The shock hit me hard—I had been betrayed. Blaze's smile turned evil, and my former teammates burst through the door, guns drawn. Blaze assessed the situation with a smirk, my teammate pointed their guns at me probably waiting for a command from Blaze. Blaze tossed his half lit cigarette to the floor, as I waited for him to give them the command to pull the trigger

This is it, this is where my life ends, I thought He stared at me before giving me a wink, "Duck" he yelled, and I laid flat on the floor as chaos unfolded. Blaze didn't wait for a clean shot; he fired wildly, turning the room into chaos. When the smoke cleared, he stood unharmed amid the wreckage.

"Come on, kiddo, you've got a long way to go," he mocked, enjoying the chaos. Still shaken, I asked, "Why help me?" His eyes held a heavy past and something deeper.

"Your dad saved my life once. I've been waiting to repay him, but now that I have, tell Knox that the next time I see him, I'll pull the trigger." He said, unfazed by the destruction around us.

Grateful, I nodded and turned to leave. But then he called my name, stopping me. "And Raven, if I were you, I'd get home quickly. Who knows what surprise Richard has planned for you?"

A knot of fear twisted in my stomach as I ran to the hotel where my old team was staying. I tore off my blood-stained clothes, trying to blend in before catching the first flight back. As I rushed through the airport, I worried about Richard's dark plans, hoping I would make it in time to stop whatever danger lay ahead.
