Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Dani's POV

I came out of the office standing tall. Five years had already passed, and I was more than I was

before.

As always paparazzi swarmed me, their cameras flashing their lights in my eyes, but I wasn't

willing to stick around for long.

"Tell us about your new lipstick line ma'am."

"Ma'am, so far you've risen beyond expectations. Not only a model, but now an owner of a

lipstick line. How do you feel?"

"Your new brand of lipstick is already sold out. When are we getting more?" They kept asking

question after question, but I took off.

"Excuse me…" I said, and immediately walked past them like a ghost, aiming to reach the car.

However, they stormed after me, holding their microphones, and cameras. Indeed, they were

after me.

Once I was in the car, I heaved, closing my eyes. My driver was already waiting for me, and

sensing my exhaustion, he commented. "You seem tired. I'll get you home so you can rest."

"That's nice. I would actually love that. I'm feeling so tired, and stressed," I responded with a

gentle smile.

He drove for a while, and by the time I got home, I was faced with two flower bouquets, and a

box. I crouched down to the box level, and immediately went through the card. However, when I

saw who it was, my expression immediately changed.

I went from my usual neutral self to something else. I was smiling so hard, reading the letter

attached to the gift.

"Hey baby girl. You finally did it. Congratulations on your launch. I'm sorry I couldn't be there,

had something to do at the office, but I was hoping that we could at least have a little time for

ourselves. All I'm actually saying is…. HOW ABOUT DINNER AT 8PM?"

I blushed at the message, and pulled out my phone from my purse as I instructed my

housekeeper with my gestures to take in the things for me.

Kenneth wasn't as bad as I thought. He was a good, loving, and understanding man who knew

what was right. He kept his promise, and stayed by my side till I became well, and successful.

I went in, and rested for a while before actually preparing for him to come pick me up. Once it

was seven, I headed to the bathroom, had my bath, and wrapped myself with a towel.

I picked a nice gown, and after taking care of my skin, and hair, I put on the gown, applying a

little makeup. The red gown hugged my shape perfectly, and my tall figure stood firm.

In a few minutes, there was a light knock on my door, and by the time I rushed to open thinking

it was the housekeeper, I was shocked to see Kenneth.

His eyes widened, and then a smirk slowly crept to his lips.

This was the rumoured feared CEO, being all childish in front of me.

"Can I take you away?" he asked, and I blushed, remaining silent. He always has the perfect

lines to say. Something to make me feel alright.

"Yes you can. Also, thank you for the gift. I saw them earlier."

He inched close to me, and held my hands, gently pulling him close to me.

"Don't mention it dear, anything for you. You might not know it, but you deserve everything in the

world…" he expressed.

I feel he was the only genuine friend I had made so far. Five years wasn't a joke. In those five

years, numerous men had asked my hand in marriage, but I rather be single. My first marriage

was a mess, and I didn't want to be involved with anyone ever again.

Soon, we headed to his car, and once he helped me in, he rushed over to the driver's seat, and

started the car, soon reaching the restaurant.

Once there, he hurried down, and helped me out of the car. I guess he knew how to treat me

like a princess.

"You look dashing. I swear when I saw you, I ran out of words to say. You really know how to

blow my mind."

I blushed red again. He was always flattering and commending me.

As soon as we stepped into the restaurant, the waiter directed me to the seat that was kept for

us. I was happy, and at the same time, I felt free to talk to him.

Once done, he cleared the bill, and we started strolling back to the car. However, he grabbed

my hand, and turned towards me. His eyes staring directly into mine.

"Thanks for honouring my invitation. It was magical," he expressed, and I laughed.

"I should be the one thanking you. This is one way to celebrate a new product launch isn't it?"

He ended up laughing as well. "You know, we should do this often. Go out, have fun, see you

smile. You're always so serious, and it's crazy how you can be so funny as well."

I paused my lips. "Says the one who's feared by everyone. You are really something," I

commented, and his stare got intense. I could feel his eyes staring into my soul, and I noticed

how he gulped. Was there something he wanted to know? Just then, someone bumped into me,

causing me to lose my balance, and before he could react, our lips were already entangled

together.

Call it an opportunity or something, but it happened briefly before I pulled away.

"Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed, and watched how he stared at me with a smirk.

"There's no need to be sorry. It was a mistake right? The real person who should be saying

sorry is nowhere to be seen." He expressed, and in order to lighten my mood, he gestured for

us to leave.

I returned home that night, and after freshening up, I laid on my bed with a smile on my face.

For some reason, I couldn't stop thinking about what we shared even when it was an accident.

His lips were so soft, his body warm. It felt like something I was craving originally.

"No!" I smacked myself gently on the cheek. "What the hell are you doing? You can't possibly

like what you're seeing now, can you?" I was talking of the image my head didn't want to let go

off. My thoughts dangled around the whole thing till the darkness carried me away.

The next morning wasn't so bad. I woke up, prepared, and even had breakfast before heading

to my study. My eyes were fixed on the numbers. I was also doing some research on a new

lipstick brand as well when my eyes turned towards the door.

"Who's there?" I asked Because of the knock.

"It's Zora ma'am, your housekeeper."

I sighed, wondering what she wanted for a few seconds before inviting her in.

"What is it?" My eyes scanned her for a few seconds.

"There's someone here to see you. He didn't give me a name, and insisted he must see you."

I furrowed my brows. I wasn't expecting anyone, but I knew I would soon enough.

Pushing myself up from the seat, I immediately headed towards the front door. However, upon.

Opening it, I turned pale with shock, and my heart stopped.

It was only a matter of time before my eyes darkened, and hands fisted.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I roared in anger. He seemed to not have a problem with my

yelling. Instead, he did what I didn't expect. He went down on his knees.

"Please…. I know I have wronged you, please forgive me. Forgive me, and return home." It was

my ex-husband, Raul.
