Chapter 31 - Demon Queen

It only took one quick movement from her to prevent that anonymous weapon from drilling a hole through her forehead. In minutes, the hall of regrets fell in chaos and the dragon king stared around anxiously to see where the attack had come from.

Xueyao collapsed on her knees as the graze on the left side of her face became painful, the scar opened further as blood trickled down her face and all the way down to her neck, staining her dress.

''Xueyao!'' He stood protectively by her side in a blink of an eye, his hold around both sides of her arms giving her support as the wound grew more painful and she wanted it gone so the burning would stop.

She had never seen him panic or lose composure as he was before her now.

When she started to cry again as the pain became unbearable for her, he did not hesitate to pull her into his cold embrace, the heavenly inscriptions around his left arm buzzed back to life as he began to use his magic to heal the wound and ease the pain as quickly as he could.

If he had acted quicker and not let go no matter what, she wouldn't have had to go through this much pain.

Xueyao closed her eyes and surrendered to the healing effects of his magic as she cuddled into his hold.

Screams erupted from the frozen Halls of Regrets when Lan Meiyun surged out of the river of tribulation as a demon with a red gaze and malevolent looks. Red streaks of hair layered beautifully on her dark ones as she stretched out her arms , raised high above them with promises to kill every single one of them present in the hall with her insidious glare.

Qing Yue's lips trembled at the surge of resentment energy flowing through and around her as she regarded each and every one of them with murderous intent.

Once her wound was sealed up and healed like it was never there, he pulled her gently to see if she was injured anywhere else.

The girl reopened her eyes and nodded to him that she was alright now and he shouldn't look too worried about her.

''Lan Meiyun! How dare you use resentment energy in this sacred place?!'' The dragon king raged as everyone observed the fallen immortal with terrified gazes.

''Do you not know how forbidden it is to cultivate such demonic acts? Your punishment will be death if you do not let go!''

The demon queen turned while still suspended in the air by resentment aura as her eyes fixed on her target that would set her free.

Memories of who she had been to her when she was still a dragon brought a crazed smile up her dark lips.

I am glad we were even enemies before I became this. It would only make killing you much more fun and rewarding.

Gathering and channeling as much resentment energy in-between her palms, Lan Meiyun thought of which way was best to give her nemesis a painful death.

The male white dragon wanted to intervene and take the demoness down but the immortal black dragon was already ahead of him.

He paused as he watched the ancient being manifest behind the demonic immortal. He moved in one smooth arc and wasted no time decapitating the immortal with just one swing of his right leg.

Blood splattered all over and fell like rain over the heads of the immortals observing. Qing Yue closed her eyes and turned away to avoid the blood flying all over from getting on her face.

In a blink of an eye the entire hall was a mess and everyone watched in horror as the headless body of the immortal fell and got pulled into the draining force of the river of tribulations.

The silence after was louder than their racing heartbeats as they watched the terrifying god hold on to the head of the fallen immortal.

Lan Meiyun's head dangling like a loose pendulum in his merciless hold. He held her head still, angry, unblinking, merciless in response to how he had just brutally ended her existence.

Her eyes moved lazily as she fought to stay alive, her lips gasping like a fish out of water as this was not the death she ever imagined receiving for her numerous shortcomings.

After waiting for them all to let the horrific sight sink in, he raised the head and held it within his palms. Making sure his face was the last thing he saw before he sent her off to the second death.

''I can tolerate anything,''

He began as bloody tears rolled down her cheeks as she was forced to gaze into those cold, lifeless eyes of his.

''But not when she's harmed.''

With the maximum force of his spiritual power everyone watched as Lan Meiyun's head was blown into atoms. The force of the explosion knocking most of the immortals in the sacred hall off their feet and staggering back.

He returned to stay by her shaken form. The girl gazed at him partly traumatized yet confused by how defensive he suddenly became.

The silence after was the longest and the most intense as no one could imagine what would happen next.

Would he snap and kill them all the same brutal way?

Some stepped back in fear as he refused to be calm.

Just when they all thought it couldn't get worse from there, his eternal gaze sharpened on them all as he regarded each of them coldly.

''You all…''

They all held their breaths.

''...Should save yourselves.'' He said harshly as he made up his mind. Another tear trickled down her cheek as he gave up on them once more.

All they've worked for….

All the hell she had been through and endured….

What about saving Sheng Chong?

Just before he disappeared out of their sight, the girl jumped to her feet and ran towards him to hold his hand, pulling him to herself with enough force to tip them both off the edge of the platform to dive straight towards the river of tribulation.

Everyone rushed forward to see as they both fell and the dragon king watched as the portal to their tribulations opened on its own to receive them.

No matter how much he struggled to break free of her grasp, she never let go of him until they fell into the portal and the opening sealed right before her eyes.

All the dragon king could do was let out a disbelieving gasp and it began.
