Chapter 10 - The old village

They left early in the morning before anyone had woken. The sun was still beneath the horizon and Larann was very grumpy. She missed coffee. The water was clear and fresh, but except for the failed wine, there wasn't much in the way of drinks.

Mura offered to carry her so that she wouldn't trip in the woods.

"We noticed you can't see very well in the dark, but we can," he said. Larann looked at him, her eyes widening. If they could see in the dark does that mean they had been able to see everything that night? She blushed thinking about her wantonness.

Unable to say anything, knowing that it would sound awkward, she nodded and climbed on his back.

With such a muscular back, you'd think that it would be uncomfortable, but he was able to position her so that she was very comfortable.

Then the four darted down one of the paths out of the city. This one sloped up and headed into the mountains.
