Walking down the stairs, I found myself regretting—over and over again—handing Morris that shirt.

With my family around, Morris couldn't exactly take charge, so I had to do all the work, and my arms were still sore from it.

Wearing that smug expression, Morris wrapped his arms around me.

"I screwed up. You can punish me however you want," Morris said, that lazy grin spreading across his face.

The word 'punish' seemed to sear into my ears, heat rushing through my entire body.

My annoyance flared even hotter.

I shot Morris a deadly look.

'If you ever... ever...' I raged silently, unable to finish the thought.

Flustered and mortified, I snapped, "I'm staying here at the Vernon house this week. Go back to your apartment alone!"

Knowing he'd pushed too far, Morris backed down, switching to his gentlest tone and pulling out every sweet word in his arsenal to win me over.

But I wasn't buying it.
