I didn't push for more details.
Morris jumped right in. "So, did I actually try to bribe him or not?"
Aileen's lips pressed into a thin line. She stayed silent.
She knew damn well there'd been no bribery.
The reality was simple—Ridley and Morris couldn't stand each other.
Even if Morris had tried sliding Ridley some cash, Ridley would've told him to shove it.
But she'd already started this mess. Backing down now would make her look like a troublemaker.
Her voice came out flat. "That's your business. How would I know?"
Morris got to his feet, brushed past Aileen, and headed straight for the judges.
Some of these judges were officially appointed veterans—people you couldn't buy off with a few bills.
Morris pulled off his sunglasses and faced the judges with perfect politeness.
"So, experts, have I ever offered any of you a bribe? Don't worry, we're live. If I did, just blink real hard and the whole audience will get the message."
