After those words left his lips, Morris released me and climbed onto the bed, settling in comfortably.

I stood there, utterly bewildered.

'Does he really believe he's still clearheaded?' I wondered silently.

Left with no other option, I dampened a washcloth and cleaned Morris's face. I stripped away his clothes and dressed him in pajamas I'd fetched from Thomas's room.

Intoxicated Morris proved remarkably compliant. Eyes sealed shut, he simply obeyed whatever I instructed.

The moment I asked him to sit upright, he did. When I requested he raise his arms, he complied without resistance—completely docile and cooperative.

After changing his clothes, he collapsed face-first onto the mattress and slipped into unconsciousness immediately.

I shook my head with quiet amusement. "Amazing—he's actually endearing when he's drunk."

Right then, Morris's phone buzzed to life. I looked over at him—completely unconscious—so I grabbed his device and examined the display.
