Chapter 27 - Chapter 27 Summit and Storm

Ana's POV

I pushed down the odd sensation and dropped my gaze, falling silent.

Morris's driving was smooth and controlled. Mount Chromos drew tourists regularly, but cars couldn't reach the summit. We'd have to take the cable car for the final ascent - a consideration for my injured foot.

The view from the top was breathtaking, yet we stood alone among the scenic overlooks, the emptiness almost eerie.

My brow creased with confusion. "It's Saturday. This place should be packed with visitors. Where did everyone go?"

Morris's laugh came suddenly, his eyes flicking to his phone with an amused glint. "Strange, isn't it? Not a soul in sight," he said, far too casually.

I didn't dwell on it, and we settled onto a bench near the peak.

The sun began its descent, painting the clouds in brilliant shades of crimson.

The stunning vista washed away my tension, lifting the weight from my shoulders.
