Elisabeth's POV

Nothing could have prepared me for the shock of Jefferson's words. They hit me like a physical blow, leaving me completely speechless. The raw intensity in his voice had frozen me in place, my mind racing to process what he had just confessed. We stood there, locked in each other's gaze, the silence stretching endlessly between us.

"I... I'm..."

The words came out broken, barely a whisper.

Something shifted in Jefferson's expression. The vulnerability vanished, replaced by that familiar cold mask. Without warning, he turned away, snatching his phone and jacket from the dresser. He walked out as abruptly as he had shattered my composure, leaving me alone with the echo of his confession.

I collapsed back onto the mattress, a sound of pure frustration escaping my lips. His words kept replaying in my head, each syllable burning into my memory.

"I am prepared to let the world burn to the ground before I let anything happen to you, and it's driving me insane!"
