Elisabeth's POV
The vehicle lurched to a stop outside the derelict steel mill, gravel crunching beneath the tires before the engine died with a final wheeze. I jumped out before the dust settled, my boots hitting the fractured asphalt as I surveyed the imposing structure ahead. The mill rose like a monument to decay, its shattered windows staring back at me like dead eyes.
"Ana, we've arrived," I projected through our mental connection. "What's your location?"
'Minutes away,' her voice echoed in my mind. 'Don't do anything stupid, Mandy. Hold your position until we arrive. We have no intel on what's waiting inside, and Gordon's reach extends further than we anticipated. Your parents' pack may not be sufficient backup. Javier brings additional strength.'
'Understood.' I severed the link immediately.
But waiting wasn't an option. Jefferson's time was running out.
"Are you ready?" I asked my mother, already moving toward the entrance without a backward glance.
