Elisabeth's POV
"If we're going to die, at least we'll do it spectacularly."
Alana's eyes sparkle with dangerous enthusiasm, and I have to wave my hand directly in front of her face to snap her out of whatever fantasy she's lost in.
She startles back to the present, though the wild excitement refuses to fade from her features.
I shake my head in exasperation. "Stay focused. We only take what's on my list, nothing more."
"You're being such a killjoy, Mandy. And I still can't believe you kept this secret from me for so long. I mean, seriously, this is incredible."
Her theatrical reaction makes me sigh, though I understand why she's overwhelmed. When I first stumbled into my parents' weapons cache years ago, it had been completely accidental. The discovery had resulted in one of the most severe lectures my mother had ever delivered.
