Elisabeth's POV

The sight of that sleek black vehicle sitting in the parking lot made my jaw clench so hard I thought my teeth might crack. Every polished surface seemed to mock me, reflecting the afternoon sun like some kind of automotive middle finger. This whole mess was already testing my patience, and now Jefferson had managed to take my existing fury and amplify it into something that felt dangerously close to rage.

"Well, that car certainly did something to offend you."

Elana appeared beside me, her voice carrying that playful lilt that usually made me smile. Today it just made me want to scream.

I exhaled sharply, running a hand through my hair. "It's not about the car, Elana. It's about the arrogant ass who had it delivered."

"Your billionaire husband?"

"Stop calling him that." I whirled around to face her, my voice sharp with exasperation. "And yes, he's exactly who I'm furious with right now. He thinks he can just throw money at problems and make them disappear."
