The agony struck without warning, a crushing force that felt like my ribs were being shattered from the inside. I collapsed to my knees, gasping as the pain tore through my chest, my hands clawing desperately at the ground as I tried to crawl away from the source.
"This can't be happening. None of this is real," I whispered through gritted teeth, my voice barely audible over my ragged breathing. "It's just my imagination playing tricks."
But my desperate words were swallowed by the cold, mocking laughter that filled the air around me. She loomed over me, this twisted version of myself, her eyes gleaming with malicious satisfaction as her lips curved into a smile that made my blood freeze.
