"You're certain this is what you want?" Freddie's voice crackled through the phone, measured but wary.
My wolf snarled inside my mind, furious at what I was about to confirm. I pushed him down, refusing to let his protests change my resolve.
A beat of silence stretched between us before Freddie continued. "Let me repeat myself—you werewolves make zero sense to my simple human brain. But after everything you just explained, I need to ask one more time—are you absolutely certain?"
Now it was my turn to hesitate. His question struck right at the uncertainty I was fighting to ignore. Watching Andy's lips on hers in that ballroom had made me want to tear him to pieces. But then Elisabeth stepped between us again. She wasn't picking him, she'd insisted, but she refused to let blood spill.
Yet he would always remain her destined mate.
